Movie debuts December 22 on HBO Max
Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith return for the first Matrix film since 2003. The fourth entry in the franchise finds Lana Wachowski directing solo for the first time and also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (as Morpheus, the role originated by Laurence Fishburne), Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Jessica Henwick. And, yes, the characters played by some of the returning stars appeared to die in the previous film, but Resurrections—billed as both sequel and reboot—will presumably answer any questions you have. It will stream for one month on HBO Max concurrently with its theatrical debut, making it the final film that will be subjected to Warner's controversial decision to send all of its 2021 films to streaming on day one.
