The 25 Best Albums of 2018 So Far
Which albums impressed critics during the first half of the year? Find our ranking of 2018's highest-scoring studio albums (so far) in the gallery above. The list includes releases through June 30, 2018 that have received at least 15 reviews from professional critics as of July 2nd. (Re-releases, EPs, and compilations are also excluded, and note that even though you'll see rounded Metascores, the albums are ranked prior to rounding.)
Kanye West's five-albums-in-five-weeks Wyoming project includes two LPs on which West is a performer in addition to the producer. While his solo album, Ye, was an uncharacteristic disappointment, West fared much better on this full-length collaboration with Kid Cudi.
“With Cudi playing the role once occupied by his own ego, Kanye’s music sounds freer than ever before. Together, these two studio wzrds have managed to produce something that is equal parts raw, honest, touching, spooky and ethereal. We’re going to need more than seven tracks next time.” —HipHopDX
