The second film from Chinese director Bi Gan (Kaili Blues) first debuted at Cannes in 2018, where critics were mesmerized by a noir-like mystery that emphasizes atmosphere and technical mastery over story. Of particular note is a nearly one-hour, dream-like, single-take 3D sequence that closes the film and marks Journey as an unforgettable experience.
