25 Best Horror Films of the Past Decade
Looking for some scares this spooky season? Our list above is all treats, no tricks: It includes the 25 best-reviewed horror films of the 2010s, ranked by Metascore.
This genre-bending horror film follows Peter (Itay Tiran) as he arrives from England to marry his fiancée Zaneta (Agnieszk Zulewska) and move into her family’s home in rural Poland. While inspecting the house on the eve of his wedding, Peter falls into a pile of human remains, releasing a dybbuk, an ancient figure in Jewish folklore. Co-writer and director Marcin Wrona, who committed suicide prior to the film’s premiere, skillfully combines horror film and wedding comedy conventions to investigate his country’s lasting legacy of the Holocaust.
“It’s the kind of film that, rather like its mournful title apparition, clings to your sleeve and follows you home.” —Katie Rife, The A.V. Club
