After Cloverfield, but before he took over the Planet of the Apes franchise with Dawn and War (and, in theory, someday moving on to The Batman), Matt Reeves directed this remake of the Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In. Expectations were low when the remake was announced, but Reeves and his stars Chloe Grace Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee find the right balance between coming-of-age drama and horror.
