The Freshman 15: 2017's Best Debut Albums
While our final list of 2017's best albums won't arrive until later in our month, our best of 2017 coverage continues now with a look at the year's top newcomers.
Above is our list of the 15 best-reviewed debut albums of 2017, ranked by Metascore. Note that albums must have at least 7 reviews—and be a full LP, rather than an EP—to be eligible for inclusion. Albums are ranked by Metascore prior to rounding.
(#4) Bedouine is the solo project for Syrian-born, Saudi Arabian-raised, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Azniv Korkejian. Despite that cosmopolitan background, her three-years-in-the-making self-titled debut, released on Matthew E White’s Spacebomb label, is best classified as folksy Americana.
“One of the most understated and charming albums of the year.” —The Guardian
