The 28 Best Comedies This Century, Ranked From Worst to Best
From Academy Award winners to outrageous, campy comedies, this century has been filled with a variety of laugh-inducing flicks.
These films star titans of the genre, including Seth Rogen, Jack Black, Sacha Baron Cohen and Chris Rock. And while some are of the laugh-out-loud variety, other comedies are satirical, of the mumblecore genre, or just plain dark.
Christopher Guest's mockumentary about a folk music concert reunites several stars from his past projects, including Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara and Michael McKean. One of the original songs from the movie, "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow," was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song.
“I laughed myself silly through most of A Mighty Wind, and was pleasantly surprised when it took a turn toward genuine feeling near the end.” —Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal
