Which albums have impressed critics the most during the first half of the year? Above, we rank the best-reviewed LPs released between January 1, 2022 and June 30, 2022 by Metascore. Albums must have at least 7 reviews from professional critics to be eligible, and resissues, EPs, live albums, and compilations are excluded.
After the longest gap in their discography to date—five years without a new studio album—the veteran indie rockers finally returned in February with a follow-up to 2017's Hot Thoughts. Like every Spoon album before it, the lean, rock-oriented Lucifer on the Sofa scored in the 80s.
