Which albums have impressed critics the most during the first half of the year? Above, we rank the best-reviewed LPs released between January 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021 by Metascore. Albums must have at least 7 reviews from professional critics to be eligible, and resissues, EPs, live albums, and compilations are excluded.
American electronic composer Pauline Anna Strom, whose recording career spanned the 1980s (beginning with 1982's Trans-Millenia Consort), was rediscovered in recent years thanks to a 2017 compilation released by RVNG. She finally recorded a new album (her first since 1988) last year at the age of 74, but died in December just before the album's release this February.
