Which albums have impressed critics the most during the first half of the year? Above, we rank the best-reviewed LPs released between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020 by Metascore. Albums must have at least 7 reviews from professional critics to be eligible, and resissues, EPs, live albums, and compilations are excluded.
It may have been recorded in 1974 and 1975, but Homegrown is no reissue. Instead, it's Neil Young's famous "lost" album, which was shelved in favor of Tonight's the Night in the '70s and only released in its entirety for the first time in June 2020 as the second installment in Young's ongoing "Archives" series. Seven of the 12 songs here had never been officially released in any form.
