Which albums have impressed critics the most during the first half of the year? Above, we rank the best-reviewed LPs released between January 1, 2019 and June 30, 2019 by Metascore. Albums must have at least 7 reviews from professional critics to be eligible, and resissues, EPs, live albums, and compilations are excluded.
The adventurous metal band spent two years working on this follow-up to 2015's Purple with producer Dave Fridmann. Possibly their best album to date (and certainly their highest-scoring), as well as first with new lead guitarist Gina Gleason, who replaces Peter Adams, Gold & Grey should be their last album with a color name.
