The release of the latest documentary feature from director Steve James (Hoop Dreams, The Interrupters, Life Itself) could not be better timed, following as it does just weeks after Oppenheimer. His new film examines the life (especially the marriage) and decisions made by Manhattan Project scientist Ted Hall, who shared classified nuclear secrets with Russia. Weaving together reenactments (a stylistic change for James), newsreel footage, archival interviews of Hall, and a new interview with his now 90-year-old wife, Joan, James tells a story of love and espionage. Of the four known spies at Los Alamos, only Klaus Fuchs appears in Oppenheimer.
