What to Watch in August: 20 Notable TV Shows & Streaming Movies
The month ahead will bring new shows like Marvel's What If, Reservation Dogs, Nine Perfect Strangers, and The Chair, plus returning favorites like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and streaming movies including a surprisingly good take on The Suicide Squad. In the gallery on this page, our editors have selected the most interesting TV and movie titles debuting at home in the next month, listed in order by premiere date.
Season 10 debuts August 25 on FX and August 26 on Hulu
Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Angelica Ross, Evan Peters, Leslie Grossman, Finn Wittrock, Lily Rabe, and Billie Lourd will be among the familiar faces on screen for this delayed 10th season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series, which has already been renewed for three additional seasons. New faces include Neal McDonough and Macaulay Culkin. Rather than stick to one story all season, Double Feature is split in two completely separate parts, titled "Red Tide" and "Death Valley," with at least one of those stories (presumably the first) taking place in Provincetown, Mass. As always, further details are a secret for now, but the first teaser certainly suggests that aliens will be involved in some way. And ... shark people?
Note that production was recently halted due to at least one reported COVID case on set, but as of now the show remains on schedule for its late August start. (Filming on part one is already complete.)
