10 Films to See in August
August may not be a strong month for quality blockbuster releases—just look at the advance reviews for Suicide Squad, for example—but that doesn't mean there won't be anything good to see in theaters. Below, we pick out the month's most promising new films, including several Sundance hits.
At this year’s Sundance Film Festival, writer-director Chad Hartigan’s follow-up to This Is Martin Bonner won two awards: the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award and a Special Jury Award for Individual Performance for Craig Robinson. This heart-warming family comedy tells the story of a father (Robinson) and his 13-year-old son (Markees Christmas) who relocate to Heidelberg, Germany. As the only African-Americans in the town, the pair struggle to get a handle on their new lives.
