10 Films to See in August
August may not be a strong month for quality blockbuster releases—just look at the advance reviews for Suicide Squad, for example—but that doesn't mean there won't be anything good to see in theaters. Below, we pick out the month's most promising new films, including several Sundance hits.
In writer-director Elizabeth Wood’s debut feature, Homeland’s Morgan Saylor stars as Leah, a pleasure-seeking college girl who falls for a young Puerto Rican drug dealer named Blue (Brian ‘Sene’ Marc). As their passion for each other increases, they begin selling drugs to Leah’s rich friends, but their high comes to an end when Blue is arrested, leaving Leah with a large amount of coke. Good (and some mixed) reviews from Sundance indicate this is a film that will challenge and divide audiences.
