GameCube
Nintendo, 2002
Arriving eight years after SNES platformer Super Metroid, Prime originally attracted controversy for tinkering with the popular franchise's formula by switching to a first-person perspective and adopting 3D graphics. Then people started playing it, and the rest is history. It's the best game in the Metroid series, the highest-scoring GameCube title, and one of the best games ever made.
