While our list only includes games with confirmed release dates or that seem more likely than not to come out this year, you'll also find some of the more remote possibilities for 2020 compiled at the end of the gallery.
Out March 13 for PlayStation 4. Set in 17th century Japan, Team Ninja's action-RPG game Nioh received plenty of acclaim (and Dark Souls comparisons for its difficulty level) upon its 2017 release. That game's first follow-up is actually a prequel that jumps back in time by about 50 years (to 1555) but remains in Japan. Your player is a new mercenary character who is half human, half yokai, and you'll get to customize his (or her) look and other details. And, since you are part yokai (demon), you'll have some supernatural abilities at your disposal, allowing for more variety in combat. Variety seems to be the watchword all around, as Nioh 2 also looks like it will have a greater selection of locations and enemies.
