Out March tbd for PC. It may not be the Half-Life game fans were hoping for, but it's something. The first new release in 13 years in Valve's FPS series takes place between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2 rather than continuing from the cliffhanger ending of 2007's Episode Two. The reason some fans may be disappointed is that it's a VR-only title, and will always be so. But if it's at least half as good as the previous Half-Life games, it may finally be a good excuse to acquire a headset. (Valve's own Index VR is completely sold out, but any PC-compatible VR headset will do.) The full-length story is set in City 17, ruled by the alien race known as The Combine, and you'll play as Alyx Vance, who will have a pair of gravity gloves at her disposal. Gameplay again combines combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving, while graphics (understandably) look far more detailed than ever before in the series. The development team includes the indie studio Campo Santo (Firewatch) in addition to Valve.
In anticipation of the new game, every previous Half-Life release will be free to play through April 1st via Steam.
