Yesterday, in part 1 of our preview, we looked at 2017's most-anticipated sequels and remakes. Today, in our conclusion, we pick out the coming year's most promising new properties, both from big name developers as well as indie studios.

What: A 2D point-and-click adventure from two of the genre's pioneers, Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick (Maniac Mansion, The Secret of Monkey Island). The crowdfunded Thimbleweed Park aims to recapture the humor and charm of those early games with its retro interface and puzzling tale of two FBI agents investigating a murder in a strange town that is harboring secrets. You'll get to play as five different characters in total, including a cursed insult comic clown who can't remove his makeup.
