Most Anticipated Video Games of 2017: Sequels, Remakes and Adaptations
No, it's not you. There's a reason why many of the games you'll see below in part one of our 2017 preview (a second part, focusing on new IP, arrives later this week) may seem familiar: you saw them here last year, in our 2016 games preview. The good news? They probably won't get delayed again to 2018. You'll find those holdovers—as well as the most promising recently announced titles—in our gallery below, listed in alphabetical order.
What: Both a numberless sequel to 2010's God of War III and an unofficial reboot of the 12-year-old action-adventure series. While previous games drew from Greek mythology, this one is based on Norse myths, but it retains the series' main protagonist, Kratos (though fatherhood—and a new-to-the-series over-the-shoulder camera angle—has rendered him a bit more human and sympathetic than in past games). Gameplay is single-player only.
