Rise Stevens

Biography: Legendary Mezzo-soprano star Rise Stevens made her operatic debut in Prague in 1936 as "Mignon" and would debut at the Metropolitan opera in 1938 in the same role. Her humble beginnings as she sang in church choirs to help pay for her voice lessons and musical education helped turn her dreams into a reality. Not only appearing on stage in concert, Rise Stevens appeared on numerous radio and television programs such as The Voice of Firestone, The Bell Telephone Hour, Producers Showcase and NBC Television Opera. Rise Stevens appeared in the film The Chocolate Soldier with Nelson Eddy and Going My Way with Bing Crosby. Some of her most memorable roles were Carmen, Octavian (Der Rosencavalier), Hansel, Cherubino, Orfeo, Prince Orlovsky, and Delilah.
