Lex Barker
Biography: Born into the upper class and educated at Princeton, Barker joined a theatrical stock company, then landed a minor role in the film Doll Face (1945). His virile, athletic, steely appearance led him to be cast as the screen's tenth Tarzan, a role he played from 1949-53 (beginning with Tarzan's Magic Fountain). Barker went on to do a series of Westerns and minor films, and after 1958 began working in European productions, most notably Fellini's La Dolce Vita. He became popular in Germany for his work in screen adaptations of German author Karl May's Westerns. Married five times, Barker's wives include actresses Arlene Dahl (to whom he was married from 1951-52) and Lana Turner (1953-57).
