Leo Carrillo
Biography: Born to a wealthy landowning Spanish-American family in California, Carrillo started as a newsman and cartoonist before doing "dialect" comedy in vaudeville and on the stage. On screen from the late '20s, at first he played leads; soon, however, his talent for dialects made him one of the most frequently employed character actors of the '30s and '40s, usually as an amiable, comic Italian or Spaniard. After retiring from the big screen, he became well-known in the role of Pancho, the hero's Spanish sidekick in the '50s TV series The Cisco Kid (with Duncan Renaldo).
