John Madden (II)

Biography: Having played football in college, John was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1958, but a training camp injury ended his career before he ever played a game. John shifted to coaching, and rapidly rose to become a defensive assistant at San Diego State, helping build one of the best small college defenses in the country in 1966.
The following year he joined the Oakland Raiders as the linebackers coach, and became head coach in 1969, at the time the youngest head coach in the NFL. There he won over ¾ of his regular season games, but playoff success eluded him, and he only won a single Super Bowl before retiring after the 1978 season.
Shifting to broadcasting for CBS in 1979, he was soon paired with Pat Summerall to become half of the premiere duo in football broadcasting. When FOX acquired the NFC broadcast rights in 1994, he (and Pat) moved there to continue what would be a two decade partnership.
