Jim Dale
Biography: Dale, born James Smith, is an actor, singer and songwriter. After training as a ballet dancer, he first performed professionally as a stage comedian in 1951and later worked as both a pop singer and a disc jockey. He first appeared on British TV in 1957. In 1961 he debuted onscreen in Raising the Wind, and became a fairly busy screen actor in the '60s; his screen work decreased after 1969. Dale appeared in the "Carry On" series of comedy films, beginning with Carry On Cabby (1963). For a number of his own TV and stage productions he composed music and wrote lyrics; his other song-writing credits include the lyrics for the title song of the film Georgy Girl (1966) and for the theme song of Shalako (1968).
