Biography: An appealing and sightly actor, Metcalfe kick-started his career by working as a print model while attending school. He ultimately dropped out of the acting program at NYU in order to take a role on the soap Passions in 1999, playing Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, a man entangled in a spicy love triangle. His star rose significantly in 2004 when he made it big in prime time on Desperate Housewives as John Rowland, an often-shirtless teen yardman involved in an adulterous affair. (Interestingly, Metcalfe once worked as a real landscaper during his formative years.) Although the Desperate Housewives part landed him on numerous "hottest bachelor" lists, Metcalfe made a quick exit in the second season to pursue a film career in youth-oriented vehicles like John Tucker Must Die (2006) and The Other End of the Line (2008).
