David J. O'Connell
Biography:
David J. O'Connell was an award-winning producer and earlier, head of Universal's editorial department.
He served in the Army during WWII, achieving rank of captain. Following the service, he began working at Consolidated Film Industries in New Jersey. O'Connell joined Republic Pictures, then Revue which became Universal Television. There, he was editorial supervisor of all the studio's TV shows. Producing followed starting in 1965, and included a long line of hit series. He won an Emmy Award, as producer, for Marcus Welby, M.D. in 1970 and shared in five other nominations.
Upon his death, he left behind a wife, a daughter, and a son.
