May 12, 2019Kanye didn't surprise me and he did great job on this album. Every single track is literally piece of art.

Jun 8, 2018Not on the same level of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy but still a great album full of DRAGON ENERGY by Kanye.
A lot calmer and slower imo, but tender and introspective. -
Oct 31, 2019Brutally honest, chilling, touchy and messy, ye is one of Kanyes best, and among the best things he has done since the release of MBDTF. An essential part of Kanye's discography

Jul 30, 2018"All killer, no filler" is how Anthony Fantano described this album. I'd agree. Pretty much every track ranges from good to great. The production is kind of all over the place but, I still enjoy it overall.

Jun 4, 2018As one that is relatively new to Kanye's music (Yeezus), I found this album lacking in definition, however it makes up for it in it's brevity. Overall an interesting listen and a change of pace from rap albums that have come out recently.

Jun 2, 2018No weak moment just like Pusha T's Daytona. Kanye's production and lyrics are on point throughout. Personal, thoughtful and somewhat conceptual. All the features came through with amazing performances. High while all the songs are flawless, I feel like some are stronger than others. Most notably All Mine and Ghost Town. Overall, very pleasant listen.

Jun 1, 2018It’s an album that’s feel like the highest of high to the lowest of Lows. It’s like a bipolar episode. I think it feels rushed and hard to listen to sometimes. But overall it’s raw and powerful and makes you feel his emotion on a very human level.

Jun 3, 2018This album really grew on me in pretty dramatically over the course of 24 hours. What seemed chaotic and disjointed on the first few listens now sounds elegantly and precisely put together. I don't know if i will feel like it is a 10 tomorrow

Jun 2, 2018Although this album is VERY short, each song has its place in it and (as always) has Kanye's fantastic production. None of the tracks feel unnecessary and there's something here for everyone. Only downside I find is the lack of at least one track with some lyrical depth (similar to TLOP at least)

Jun 10, 2018Kanye's sound and lyrics are very real and meaningful, not a single bad song on the album. Overall, very solid.
-
Jun 4, 2018The album sounds good. The production is flawless. It's a mix-up of RNB and Hip Hop, with other artists in. Very cool!

Jul 23, 2018It’s better than The Life of Pablo. It’s more focused, and has no filler. It has some few questionable lines but overall is a great album.
-
Jun 25, 2018This album is very good at showing us the "new Kanye", the Kanye which stands on the edge of insanity and firmly on top of the game. While the message can seem confusing at first, the more you listen the more it makes sense. Kanyeis a musical genius and this was just a side to him that many people weren't expecting.
-
Jul 20, 2018Not the best of Kanye West, but pretty good compared to the rest. Not good for passive listening.

Jun 8, 2020I don't get all the hate this album gets, it's honestly a pretty great, short and straight to the point album. It's like the mental health dlc to TLOP, as the themes are pretty similar, only more focused on mentality rather than family.

Oct 4, 2018Eight studio albums deep into an already unmatched career, Kanye West still prevails as one of the most ambitious figures in hip-hop in this compact seven-track project. The opening track "I Thought About Killing You" proves to be one of his most vulnerable and exposed songs to date, whereas bops like "Yikes" and "All Me" drive the meat of the project.

Sep 7, 2019This is just such a REAL album.
Best Tracks: Ghost Town, Yikes, I Thought About Killing You, Violent Crimes, Wouldn't Leave
Worst Tracks: All Mine -
Sep 29, 2019A great project that focuses more on Kanye's mental struggles than it does his egotistical side.
-
Oct 14, 2019The simplistic title and cover art really summarize the album. The beats are simplistic and the songs are straight to the point. Kanye shows his vulnerable side by talking about his thoughts and his bi-polar syndrome. Ye is a short and easy to listen to album. It's a shame critics rate this album so badly.

Jan 22, 2020Incredibly overhated. Ghost town and violent crimes are masterpieces. However, all mine is a bad song and brings down the album. The rest of the songs are great.
Awards & Rankings
-
Oct 8, 2018ye is an average album with some good songs, some bad songs, and some songs that will clearly be spun millions of times. The problem is that "average" has never been good enough for Kanye West nor should it be.
-
The WireJul 26, 2018For all his power as a motivating force it’s perhaps inevitable that Ye proves weakest of the first four. Left to his own devices West sounds bewildered, somewhere between awe and exhaustion. [Aug 2018, p.63]
-
Jun 15, 2018Ye can feel uneven, sometimes boring, and more indulgent than usual, but it's a fascinating peek into West's psyche.
