Typical mediocre bublegoom pop album by Katy Perry. Nothing new, innovative or impressive, always the same. She never reinvents herself. The critics agree with me, no wonder why they are giving her such average/negative reviews, it's what she deserves lol

Painful to listen. It's completely a messy production with forgettable clinched lyrics and horrible lifeless sound. The biggest disappointment of the year!

This is just a generic album with silly lyrics and flat sounds, I hope that katy improves in her next album because this is just a mess, the only good songs of the album are witness and into me you see.

It's definitely her weakest album. Its a compilation of forgettable and overproduced songs. It's not even cohesive. I didn't even hear or feel the "purposeful pop". Mind Maze was the most disappointing, like really?! Auto-tune??!

This album is nothing but a bad thing, Katy Perry has always been differentiated by making songs without sense, and with this album was no exception.
    It's definitely an album, disappointing.

I have no high hopes for this album whatsoever. I just know that this is going to be terrible way before it's released. Trying to stay away from mainstream pop but ended up sounding one anyway makes this album a super epic fail. I do not recommend this album to anyone looking for real good music.

This is Katy's worst album to date. Every song sounds the same, and the production is lifeless. There isn't one song that can be a single, and she isn't challenging herself yet again. It's just the same old same old mediocre Katy.

Just another generic pop álbum. Is a bad mix of prism with teenage dream, where all the songs sound the same, and it seems that they were made with the same idea of sound

Very very bad, too generic, cringeworthy lyrics and just no hits. She used to be fun, never good but very fun and radio friendly. This is just trash, even for her...

This is a pile of generic garbage. I cant believe she took 4 years to make this. The entire album is full of fillers except for 2-3 catchy songs. All the singles have been a disaster. This is the worst era for miss perry.

Oh Katy, basic lyrics, basic sounds, really did you prepared this for 4 years? The worst album of the year, bad singles, and you deserve the yellow critique.

Sorry but can we get our money back? I thought she would come with a strong album and woke songs but I was wrong. Just a normal generic pop album with no special things. 10 Pop songs and a couple of ballads. Yeah, I guess I'm witnessing her career to die.

"Witness" is her worst album to date. Songs like 'Roulette' and 'Save As Draft' sound very similar to Lady Gaga's 'I Like It Rough' and 'Angel Down'. Furthermore, her voice sounds so auto-tuned in some songs. Katy could've done it so much better.

Pop’s Review of Katy Perry’s WITNESS

WITNESS: I already heard this song as a demo a year ago and it still sounds like an early 00s Madonna B-side. And for Katy, that’s a big success because usually she floats in Rebecca Black territory. The whistles in the end sound pathetic. 5/10 Hey Hey Hey: Everything about this song (including the title) sends me cringing into oblivion. Katy is
Pop’s Review of Katy Perry’s WITNESS

WITNESS: I already heard this song as a demo a year ago and it still sounds like an early 00s Madonna B-side. And for Katy, that’s a big success because usually she floats in Rebecca Black territory. The whistles in the end sound pathetic. 5/10

Hey Hey Hey: Everything about this song (including the title) sends me cringing into oblivion. Katy is well known for her horrible nursery rhyme lyrics, but the chorus to this abomination takes it to another level of lyrical immaturity. She needs to have her KCA taken away for that “chubby little wallet” bridge because that’s offensive even to her 8 year old fans, if there are any of them left nowadays. 0/10

Roulette: This one sounds like something that wouldn’t make the cut to Britney’s Femme Fatale album. Katy sounds sedated and bored… and so am I. 2/10

Swish Swish: Kopy Pasty strikes again as she blatantly steals the Truffle Butter beat and sticks some embarrassingly ironic lyrics about how she’s bigger and better than Taylor on top of that stolen beat. A failed attempt at reigniting the years old feud that Taylor Swift already won. Nicki’s verse is tolerable. 4/10

Déjà vu: “You suck my soul up in a vacuum”. Enough said. The beat is nice, I guess, but Katy’s lyrics are worse than Chinese water torture. 4/10

Power: The songs are really starting to blend in at this point. The beats are all the same and all the songs are mastered to be too bassy and it’s extremely grating to the ears, especially in combination with Katy’s nails on a chalkboard vocals. I’ve heard more interesting elevator music than this song. 0/10

Mind Maze: “I’m losing all direction” is the opening line to this song and I think it’s the perfect way to describe everything about this album. This is what happens when you buy your own shtick. Katy Perry trying to be deep is like McDonalds trying to sell gourmet food. It’s just NOT going to happen. This one is less annoying than the one before. 2/10

Miss You More: Time for a generic ballad, I guess. There’s absolutely nothing memorable about this, but it doesn’t make me want to pour liquid metal into my earsockets like some of the previous tracks so I guess that’s good. 3/10

Chained To The Rhythm: What people thought was a quick little buzz single turned out to be the albums best song. Sad. 6/10

Tsunami: Katy has a problem with big sounding song titles (Tsunami, Roar, Power) that end up being less exciting than a rerun of a badminton match. This song came and went and I felt nothing. Absolutely devoid of any substance, 100% filler. 1/10

Bon Appetit: Much has already been said about how awkward and gross sounding this song is. My guess is that Katy thought this would be the Dark Horse of the era. Good thing the public taste has evolved since 2013 and refused a serving of this rotten meal. The last chorus has a little bit of oomph and for that I give it 2/10

Bigger Than Me: Jesus Christ, how long is this album? I feel like I’ve already heard this song 5 times since I pressed play. At this point I’m 98% sure that Hey Hey Hey, Roulette, Déjà vu, Power, Tsunami and this are the same song sung in a different key. ENOUGH ALREADY 1/10

Save As Draft: Time for another generic ballad. This one is worse than the first one. 2/10

Pendulum: This is Katy Perry trying to serve some soul into a song, which is a commendable attempt but it’s sadly just an attempt. By the time the chorus hits, we go back to nursery rhyme teas and the awful production takes the song back into generic filler material. 4/10

Into Me You See: The album finally ends with ballad #3. This one is kind of soft and tolerable. It reminds me of something you would hear in Frozen or another children’s movie soundtrack. An uneventful ending to an uneventful album. 5/10

Conclusion: Katy Perry proves what we’ve always known was true. She has no talent, she has no vision and she has no value as an artist. Now that Capitol’s payola machine can’t even save her and she’s approaching middle-aged woman territory, she’s going to be put in the same discontinued aisle as Paula Abdul.

This album is such a disappointment... Songs aren't as catchy as they could be, some are in all honesty barely listenable. As for the lyrics, it's a mixed feeling from me. Katy Perry has certainly done better and this album will not go down as her masterpiece.

This Album was really terrible and disappointing. Compared to her previous work it really was a downgrade, The only songs I did enjoy were the singles that were already out the rest of the album feels unfinished. I don't recommend this album to anyone hopefully Ms Perry's next album gives us something more and doesn't keep us waiting 4 years again for unsatisfactory & substandard music.

Overall this album is lackluster. It's definitely pop, but her attempt to make it purposeful falls short. I listened to the album last night while I was already on bed. I was excited. And then I dozed off halfway of the album. When I woke up, it's already 8 AM. The tunes lull me to sleep. This album is Perry's worst. Lackluster and totally boring.

While it's certainly missing any form of coherency, Witness does feel like you're growing with Perry - going on this journey that's helped her find new ground and a reinvigorated appreciation for all walks of the pop music spectrum.

It’s a real shame Witness has come out as a bit of a disjointed mess, as there’s a decent record somewhere in there, but it gets lost in the fog of endless guest productions and co-writes that miss the point entirely.
