There's bountiful fun to be had pledging your inner teen's allegiance to Ho99o9's burning flag. [Jul 2017, p.93]

United States Of Horror is wired on a different kind of anger--these tracks seethe with violence and disgust, raging at dark political orders, economic inequality, racial tension and fractured society.

You’ll need a breather or two, for sure, but that’s the nature of great horror, regardless of what supernatural forces you choose to worship.

An uncompromising debut--hard, nasty and the perfect sonic poison for 2017. [29 Apr 2017, p.51]

Ultimately, United States of Horror is more than just a collection of songs. It’s exactly what Ho99o9 intended it to be: a blistering manifesto for a disenfranchised America.

United States of Horror boasts a sleeker and more crystal-cut produced sound palette than Ho99o9’s previous efforts; that’s not to say that the guts, grit, and feral nature of those releases are absent--they're very much here, breathing and festering from start to finish.

It’s a proudly ugly Frankenstein, an LP that clambers along at a fitful pace, stopping for the occasional smoke break.

As a fusion of hardcore punk and intense industrial rap, United States of Horror is pretty great in bringing fiery energy and passion. This isAs a fusion of hardcore punk and intense industrial rap, United States of Horror is pretty great in bringing fiery energy and passion. This is definitely mosh pit material! However it can't raise higher than okay because as a fan of punk music, this has some of the best and worst of hardcore punk. While the energy and muscular playing is here, it also carries over the same familiarity that led hardcore into it's downfall by the end of the 80s. If you follow the holy punk scripture of Black Flag and Dead Kennedys you are going to know where a lot of these sounds are going. Not to mention the lyrics, while it can hit that left-wing political sweet spot, it can be SUPER EDGY like a white kid writing about how the government is corrupt. They do have promise, for sure. But they unfortunately are committed to the hardcore sound that has all the worst aspects along with the best. Expand
