    Berenyi has been an expert at pairing delicate sonics and pointed lyrics since her Lush days, but Tripla's experimentation and revealing songwriting make it a compelling highlight within her body of work -- and a testament to her drive to keep creating, no matter what.

    What keeps Tripla from being the kind of acrid, messy screed that sometimes tempts artists later in their career is the joy with which Berenyi and her bandmates play this music, the sense of wonder that clings to the sadness near the album’s core.

    Miki Berenyi Trio have delivered a worthy addition to Berenyi’s impressive discography as Tripla—Hungarian for “triple”—is an excellent, if not totally innovative, album with a vibrant and refreshing take on the shoegazing dream pop convention.
