This record instates the true sound of Nicki Minaj, who has previously swirled in EDM and DANCE beats with sometimes cringe-worthy results. The Pink Print redeems Nicki as the main Female Hip Hop star of this decade.

The Pinkprint is like a collection of her experiences from 2013 and 2014. It plays like a diary and she shows he emotional side on many of her songs.

    1. All Things Go, an emotional story of her past and what she went through 9/10 2. I Lied, a story of how she lied to keep her relationship from falling apart 7/10 3. The Crying Game ft. Jessie Ware, a great track showing Nicki's great

Though some songs come off as a bit lazy, Nicki Minaj experiments in numerous songs on The Pinkprint (eg. I Lied, Pills N Potions), and every single chance she takes pays off immensely. Favourite tracks: All Things Go, Feeling Myself, Anaconda, Pills N Potions

I can't give Nicki a 10 on the album, because as people are saying the album isn't extremely cohesive as a whole. Nicki gives us pop, rap, hi-hop, dance hall, trap and it is a little bit over the place.
However, the diversity is for me the strength of this album. There is a track for everyone. Yes, there are some tracks where she raps about her ass and her sexuality. But there are also

I wish people would get past her un-apologetically sexual demeanor and listen to her work, because they are definitely missing on great stuff.

Onika digs deep on this autobiographical-confession style album. "All Things Go" is a wondrous look back at her early life. Conversely, the raunchy "Anaconda" is an amazing clubby track. This album is one, long, continuous, exciting ride.

By far this is their biggest album since pink friday. Unlike her first work, she tries to show that she is an artist capable of multi-faceting in several aspects. With a melacolico personality Nicki promises to show a more transparent and vulnerable side and this task is done majestically.

Following the success of Pink Friday... Roman Reloaded, Minaj's Pinkprint just does not seem to justify the latter's success. There are a handful of good songs such as Get on Your Knees- however remains Minaj's weakest album to date.

Im certainly impressed. Nicki has been hated all life by the "good music listeners" community but I've given an opportunity to this album and I can say with no doubt that, if you listen to it objectively, it's a good album. Good lyrics, Solid album.

Of course, you have to set aside stupid songs like Anaconda or Only.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Miss Minaj is back, and she is back with change at heart. Her fans may have noticed some changes in her appearance, the natural and more stripped back look giving an insight into what might be coming around the corner, and here it is. If you were to define The Pinkprint into a short sentence, it would be 'an album that is ultimately a Nicki Minaj album'. Whereas Roman Reloaded saw her embrace a more pop infused sound that may have scared listeners, The Pinkprint incorporates different sounds that are both personal, powerful, and triumphant.

All Things Go - The albums most heaviest hitting song. She talks about her abortion, her family, the death of her cousin, all in one song. The majority of artists would spread such touchy topics across an entire album, but if you think Nicki confines herself to the typicality of these artists, think again. [7/10]

I Lied - The female rap goddess exhibits amazing vocals on this track, only furthered by the spellbinding live performance she gave of this track on her Pinkprint Tour. A very different twist on Nicki's artistry. [7/10]

The Crying Game - A perfect candidate for a first single that was neglected by the artist who delivered it so beautifully. Definitely one of the highlights of the album, an emotional, hip-hop oriented ballad that haunts a listener to their very core. [9/10]

Get On Your Knees - The sexually explicit side of Nicki makes itself apparent, but this is smooth, slick and sexy, and Miss Grande's vocal ability assists Nicki's audacious style perfectly. [7/10]

Feeling Myself - The collaboration we've all been waiting for. The Queen of Rap and the Empress herself exert their authority and self pride on this excellently uplifting track. Nearly spanning 4 minutes, we wish it were longer (a collab album ladies). [9/10]

Only - Nicki's verse is okay, and then Drake bores himself into yet another collaboration and Lil Wayne struggles to keep up with Drake, who even struggles to keep up with Nicki himself. [6/10]

Want Some More - The albums first definitive hip-hop/rap score. Nicki zig-zags around constantly, her rapping as ferocious and as powerful as it was on 'Romans Revenge'. She consolidates her stance on the throne with this excellent number. [8/10]

Four Door Aventador - Rap royalty inside an expensive car. This is one of the album's many highlights, one that is extremely underrated. [8/10]

Favorite - A ferocious collaboration with Jeremih that shows the hip-hop/rap segment of the standard edition album drawing to a close with a bang. Nicki's vocals compliment her co-star's perfectly, and her rapping is on par as always. [7/10]

Buy A Heart - The lovebirds now begin to rap at each other, in between soft lulls on Nicki's behalf. A good song, if a bit misplaced between the hip-hop of the last three songs and the crazed hysteria of the next three. [6/10]

Trini Dem Girls - Roman Reloaded Nicki comes into full flex, only this time she is more tamed, with Roman still locked up at the 2012 Grammy Awards. A song that could have been a success, with the right promotion, yet it proves itself to be an electrifying banger nonetheless. [7/10]

Anaconda - The controversial reptile of the pop culture wilderness. This is nothing like her other major singles such as Superbass or Starships, she remains explicit, but also fun and ruthless at the same time. [7/10]

The Night Is Still Young - On one of the albums more happier singles, we can help as listeners but feel sad as Minaj raps and sings along to the song. Here we make a conclusion about this album and its packaging; she is hurting, but she continues to make the most of her happy moments. [8/10]

Pills N Potions - An underrated masterpiece. We see perfectly executed verses on Nicki's behalf, as well as the interestingly bizarre visuals of the video, we make conclusions about her artistry. 'People will love you and support you when its beneficial', raps the Queen, proving that she is still personal. [9/10]

Bed of Lies - Another hard hitter, a fantastic one at that. She raps around Skylar Grey's beautiful lyrics with ease, but beyond all that, we can almost hear her cry, the anger in her voice more prominent than ever. [9/10]

Grand Piano - A beautiful piano ballad, and the standard editions only entirely sung track. This closing track proves that Minaj is a serious artist, one that is better than most of her male peers. [9/10]

    BONUS TRACKS

Big Daddy - Mill's appearance goes unnoticed, but its subordinate nature acts as the perfect build up to Minaj's triumphant nature. [9/10]

Shanghai - Hip-hop Nicki is back, swinging her samurai sword at her haters with force. [8/10]

Win Again - Possibly the albums best track. She sings and raps beautifully while again, burying the hatchet in her 'rivals'. [9/10]

Truffle Butter - 'Only's stronger relative. If anything, it makes us forget how tired the song actually was. [8/10]

    OVERALL SCORE - 78%

SUMMARY - An excellent album with a mixture of feelings.

  1. An understandable desire to have her traumas understood by everybody inevitably results in a bland mush of melodrama. Despite this, The Pinkprint is Nicki Minaj’s most successful album by a fairly wide margin, as she becomes more empathetic than at any point in the past while Pink Friday’s DMZ between pop and rap becomes little more than a historical footnote in her career.
