This record instates the true sound of Nicki Minaj, who has previously swirled in EDM and DANCE beats with sometimes cringe-worthy results. The Pink Print redeems Nicki as the main Female Hip Hop star of this decade.

Though some songs come off as a bit lazy, Nicki Minaj experiments in numerous songs on The Pinkprint (eg. I Lied, Pills N Potions), and every single chance she takes pays off immensely. Favourite tracks: All Things Go, Feeling Myself, Anaconda, Pills N Potions

I can't give Nicki a 10 on the album, because as people are saying the album isn't extremely cohesive as a whole. Nicki gives us pop, rap, hi-hop, dance hall, trap and it is a little bit over the place.
However, the diversity is for me the strength of this album. There is a track for everyone. Yes, there are some tracks where she raps about her ass and her sexuality. But there are also

I wish people would get past her un-apologetically sexual demeanor and listen to her work, because they are definitely missing on great stuff.

Onika digs deep on this autobiographical-confession style album. "All Things Go" is a wondrous look back at her early life. Conversely, the raunchy "Anaconda" is an amazing clubby track. This album is one, long, continuous, exciting ride.

By far this is their biggest album since pink friday. Unlike her first work, she tries to show that she is an artist capable of multi-faceting in several aspects. With a melacolico personality Nicki promises to show a more transparent and vulnerable side and this task is done majestically.

Following the success of Pink Friday... Roman Reloaded, Minaj's Pinkprint just does not seem to justify the latter's success. There are a handful of good songs such as Get on Your Knees- however remains Minaj's weakest album to date.

Im certainly impressed. Nicki has been hated all life by the "good music listeners" community but I've given an opportunity to this album and I can say with no doubt that, if you listen to it objectively, it's a good album. Good lyrics, Solid album.

Of course, you have to set aside stupid songs like Anaconda or Only.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Miss Minaj is back, and she is back with change at heart. Her fans may have noticed some changes in her appearance, the natural and more stripped back look giving an insight into what might be coming around the corner, and here it is. If you were to define The Pinkprint into a short sentence, it would be 'an album that is ultimately a Nicki Minaj album'. Whereas Roman Reloaded saw her embrace a more pop infused sound that may have scared listeners, The Pinkprint incorporates different sounds that are both personal, powerful, and triumphant.

All Things Go - The albums most heaviest hitting song. She talks about her abortion, her family, the death of her cousin, all in one song. The majority of artists would spread such touchy topics across an entire album, but if you think Nicki confines herself to the typicality of these artists, think again. [7/10]

I Lied - The female rap goddess exhibits amazing vocals on this track, only furthered by the spellbinding live performance she gave of this track on her Pinkprint Tour. A very different twist on Nicki's artistry. [7/10]

The Crying Game - A perfect candidate for a first single that was neglected by the artist who delivered it so beautifully. Definitely one of the highlights of the album, an emotional, hip-hop oriented ballad that haunts a listener to their very core. [9/10]

Get On Your Knees - The sexually explicit side of Nicki makes itself apparent, but this is smooth, slick and sexy, and Miss Grande's vocal ability assists Nicki's audacious style perfectly. [7/10]

Feeling Myself - The collaboration we've all been waiting for. The Queen of Rap and the Empress herself exert their authority and self pride on this excellently uplifting track. Nearly spanning 4 minutes, we wish it were longer (a collab album ladies). [9/10]

Only - Nicki's verse is okay, and then Drake bores himself into yet another collaboration and Lil Wayne struggles to keep up with Drake, who even struggles to keep up with Nicki himself. [6/10]

Want Some More - The albums first definitive hip-hop/rap score. Nicki zig-zags around constantly, her rapping as ferocious and as powerful as it was on 'Romans Revenge'. She consolidates her stance on the throne with this excellent number. [8/10]

Four Door Aventador - Rap royalty inside an expensive car. This is one of the album's many highlights, one that is extremely underrated. [8/10]

Favorite - A ferocious collaboration with Jeremih that shows the hip-hop/rap segment of the standard edition album drawing to a close with a bang. Nicki's vocals compliment her co-star's perfectly, and her rapping is on par as always. [7/10]

Buy A Heart - The lovebirds now begin to rap at each other, in between soft lulls on Nicki's behalf. A good song, if a bit misplaced between the hip-hop of the last three songs and the crazed hysteria of the next three. [6/10]

Trini Dem Girls - Roman Reloaded Nicki comes into full flex, only this time she is more tamed, with Roman still locked up at the 2012 Grammy Awards. A song that could have been a success, with the right promotion, yet it proves itself to be an electrifying banger nonetheless. [7/10]

Anaconda - The controversial reptile of the pop culture wilderness. This is nothing like her other major singles such as Superbass or Starships, she remains explicit, but also fun and ruthless at the same time. [7/10]

The Night Is Still Young - On one of the albums more happier singles, we can help as listeners but feel sad as Minaj raps and sings along to the song. Here we make a conclusion about this album and its packaging; she is hurting, but she continues to make the most of her happy moments. [8/10]

Pills N Potions - An underrated masterpiece. We see perfectly executed verses on Nicki's behalf, as well as the interestingly bizarre visuals of the video, we make conclusions about her artistry. 'People will love you and support you when its beneficial', raps the Queen, proving that she is still personal. [9/10]

Bed of Lies - Another hard hitter, a fantastic one at that. She raps around Skylar Grey's beautiful lyrics with ease, but beyond all that, we can almost hear her cry, the anger in her voice more prominent than ever. [9/10]

Grand Piano - A beautiful piano ballad, and the standard editions only entirely sung track. This closing track proves that Minaj is a serious artist, one that is better than most of her male peers. [9/10]

    BONUS TRACKS

Big Daddy - Mill's appearance goes unnoticed, but its subordinate nature acts as the perfect build up to Minaj's triumphant nature. [9/10]

Shanghai - Hip-hop Nicki is back, swinging her samurai sword at her haters with force. [8/10]

Win Again - Possibly the albums best track. She sings and raps beautifully while again, burying the hatchet in her 'rivals'. [9/10]

Truffle Butter - 'Only's stronger relative. If anything, it makes us forget how tired the song actually was. [8/10]

    OVERALL SCORE - 78%

SUMMARY - An excellent album with a mixture of feelings.

Anything other than those two extremes are fillers and sound awfully like rejects from other big name rap artists. There is absolutely nothing good about this album. Her debut studio album was Pink Friday (2010), which quickly peaked at number-one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 200. Whether it be her outrages outfits, or her bold lyrics, the Trinidadian-born American rapper and songwriter is no stranger to criticism. However, with the release of her 2014 album, The PinkPrint, Minaj has really silenced the haters.
The PinkPrint is clearly Nicki's most creative album, containing songs that make listeners feel every type of emotion. One of her most notable singles ever, “Anaconda,” is featured on this album and is highly praised. Minaj really gets back to her hip-hop roots with this single, and she brings back a side of her that many fans missed. A lesser-known party song included on this album, “Trini Dem Girls”, incorporates a Caribbean styled-groove, and is truly a banger. Minaj also features other legendary rappers on this album like Drake and Lil Wayne in her songs “Truffle Butter” and “Only”. “Pills N Potions” is a slow song featured on the album, it's emotional and personal, a fresh new twist guaranteed to please any fan, and make them feel connected to Minaj herself. However, had this album included 12 songs as opposed to 22, it could have had a much bigger impact and perhaps even have became a classic. Despite this minor flaw, though, The PinkPrint is truly a masterpiece, and the queen of rap has really outdone herself this time.
Overall, I would rate this album a 9. Minaj has shown tremendous growth as a rapper , her performance was much better in this album then in Pink Friday and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. With more meaningful lyrics, a more diverse range of songs and styles, The PinkPrint is sure to have something for every listener.

When it doesn't sound like a mess, it's a really good album. Tracks like All Things Go and I Lied are masterpieces, but singing about love and heartbreak after rapping about dick size doesn't work for me. Except for this unhappy ending, The Pinkprint may still be one of the best female rap albums of 2014.

One hundred percent Nicki's best album yet. The album is flowing with creativity as well as R&B with rap and pop influences. The Crying Game, Trini Dem Girls and Get on Your Knees are the best songs.

I honestly think she put ALL of her heart into this album. Not only does she show her emotions, she shows her life as well. Unlike some "rappers" that always sing about the "ghetto" that they probably never visited, Nicki puts was rap was all about in the beginning: Expressing Yourself. Truly a beautiful album

Masterfully crafted, I can see the passion and pain behind the music, she has com far from just having fun on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and you can tell she has greatly matured. She discusses themes of love, family and regret thank will radically modify the way you think about Nicki Minaj forevermore.
Don't expect to see much pop on this, however 'The Night is Still Young' is very enjoyable.
'Truffle Butter' is an innovate house song. 'Grand Piano' shows people that Nicki can actually sing, and quite well at that, making for an unexpectedly breathtaking experience.
A very skillful record that finally showcases Nicki's true capability of creating excellent music, and breaking free of the generic ideas of pop and hip hop to create something truly innovative and eclectic.

Pois bem, após muitos adiamentos, o The Pinkprint lançou e eu pude ouvir. De certo ponto, fiquei bastante decepcionado

Pois bem, após muitos adiamentos, o The Pinkprint lançou e eu pude ouvir.

Because the lyrics are about death, fun, love, sex, fame, and accomplishing goals, the Pinkprint is one of those rare albums that many people can relate to one way or another. Also, all of the songs are great listens to me.

It's a shame that Nicki Minaj's album was this impeccable lyrically and musically, but still got scores less than 60 from a few professional critics and a 70 on metacritic. It’s her most accomplished album to date. Especially its first half, where Nicki Minaj—no, not ‘Roman Zolanski’ or ‘Barbie’, but Onika Maraj herself—highlights her vulnerability on “All Things Go”, a record referencing the murder of her cousin and an abortion she had when she was a teenager, and “I Lied”, one of Mike Will Made It’s darkest productions to date that could or could not lyrically trace back to Minaj’s longtime relationship with Safaree Samuels, which allegedly ended in 2014 and is seemingly Pinkprint’s primary go-to inspiration. And then there’s her continuously maturing sexual confidence on the Dr. Luke produced “Get On Your Knees”—co-written by Katy Perry, features Ariana Grande, but couldn’t come close to being deemed “radio-friendly”—and “Only”, which has Minaj’s most memorable verse on the entirety of the album.

Minaj has a lot of collaborators on The Pinkprint, but mostly let’s everyone know who’s running this show. And when she’s not, it’s her holding herself back. Unfortunately, where Pinkprint stumbles, it’s when Minaj tries to throw the ball to everyone on the court, usually fresher faces. It’s an exemplification of how obvious it is that they were tacked on post-production by her record label. Even Queen B makes an underwhelming appearance on “Feeling Myself”, which is less Pinkprint and more of a blueprint appropriately scheduled after their previous diva dominating collaboration on the remix of Beyoncé’s “***Flawless”.

Though not all collaborations are a misfortune on an overall solid record, Minaj’s intent on reviving the more urban oriented sounds of her pre-Pink Friday mixtapes means Pinkprint’s singles—obviously meant to compensate for any financial loss in case nobody buys into serious Nicki—are underwhelming as well: “Pills N Potions” is gimmicky, hollowly produced, and is pushed to the second half after her much, much more vulnerable offerings on the first three tracks; “Anaconda” is conceptually well-intentioned and fun, but the second-half is just a compilation of Minaj’s gurgling, wannabe Weezy laughs, and skinny-shaming lines that turn on the single’s initial theme; and “Bed of Lies”, which is just dull and a rehash of everything that topped the R&B charts in the last three years.

But once you quit scoffing at the overabundance of filler collaborations and more of Minaj’s attempt at recreating the success of “Super Bass”, The Pinkprint is her most accomplished album to date. Her singing still isn’t as versatile as her rapping skills, but there’s definitive enough talent there to make sappy power ballads like album closer “Grand Piano” convincing enough to make us feel for her heartbreak over what’s-his-name. It’s not a foreseeable classic like the Jay-Z album it replicates by title, but it’s another—if not larger—step-forward into the legacy that is Nicki Minaj.

As her last album may have been one of my least favorite releases of 2012, I obviously had extremely low expectations for this one, but Nicki showed her skills her on many occasions, in large part thanks to her being willing to get emotional. Tracks such as “All Things Go”, “I Lied”, “The Crying Game”, “Pills n Potions”, and “Bed of Lies”, are all very good songs that honestly helped to reshape my opinion of Nicki and elevated this album above her more stereotypical and sexed up tracks. In addition, the song “Grand Piano” just really, really touched my heart and is far and away the best track on this album and one that will be on replay for me for a while. Without some of the bottom feeding tracks aimed at the lowest common denominator, this album could have been something to truly behold, but sadly, it is not. I hope that for her next album, she sticks with the emotional side of things where she can truly flex her vocal skills, her rapping skills, and strike a chord rather than just try to sell her body to thirsty dudes. By far the best album of Nicki, it's really relatable and she put her all into this. It's very different from her previous albums and really has some deep and dark songs. You'll love it!

É definitivamente um dos melhores álbuns de 2014. Nicki misturou o Rap com R&B/Pop perfeitamente. Grandes nomes, grandes músicas e ótimos arranjos. Com toda a certeza é o melhor álbum de sua carreira.

This album may not be what most of you expect but it is the best album so far for her for I do love her other two albums, but this is the best. My favourites are: I Lied, All Things Go, Anaconda, Pills N Potions, Get on Your Knees, Bed Of Lies, Only, Feeling Myself, Win Again, Want Some More, The Night Is Still Young, Big Daddy and Four Door Aventador

Nicki Minaj worked hard on this album and it is noticeable, it has improved lyrically, vocally and also doing what he does best, metaphors. Pinkprint is your best work!

Star Power. Every body in it but nobody stole the show from Nicki Minaj. From heartbroken singing to straight rapping, she make it reasonable, and also she both did it great.

The Pinkprint, first off, is better than Nicki MInaj's first album. Also, I'm glad she returned more to her hip hop roots. She demonstrates repeatedly on this record that she is undoubtedly the most technically skilled female rapper in the game. Also, I'm glad she returned more to her hip hop roots. She demonstrates repeatedly on this record that she is undoubtedly the most technically skilled female rapper in the game. With a title referencing Jay Z's classic Blueprint album, I was hoping Nicki would pull off a feat like her label-mate Drake did with Take Care and put out a record worthy of the classic label despite a massive tracklist. It didn't happen; The Pinkprint has a lot of fantastic material, but it also has some material ranging from mediocre to borderline-horrible. If Nicki had limited her album to the best 10 or so tracks then it would be worthy of an is-it-a-classic conversation. Regardless, she shouldn't, and I'm sure doesn't, care: Nicki said what she wanted to say and I think it's worth hearing. ~ 6.9

    Tracks:
"All Things Go": solid rapping, good intro for an emotional album. the heartfelt lyrics make me want to give it a 5, but it's not quite there sonically (4/5)
"I Lied": genuine emotion.. this one hits you deep (4/5)
"The Crying Game": glazed-over pop song with irrelevant lyrics.. Nicki's flow (not lyrics) on her middle verse saved this one (2/5)
"Get On Your Knees": pleasantly surprised by Ariana Grande's voice, but her performance was lacking.. didn't think I was going to see a song on this album that better exemplifies bad pop than The Crying Game but this song changed that real quick (1/5)
"Feeling Myself": Beyoncé and Nicki killed it and Hit-Boy's production was impressive (5/5)
"Only": Nicki was good and Wayne and Chris Brown weren't bad, but Drake KILLED IT. the "I was still staring at the **** doeee" line was hilarious.. can't judge a song for the subject matter if it's meant to be a banger, it is what it is (4/5)
"Want Some More": wow.. saw some of that Monster-level flow from Nicki. reminds you she can really rap.. would've liked to see her just go off on this Zaytoven beat and get rid of the brief vocal effects and maybe the chorus. also, the "want that Union, want that D Wade" line was clever (4/5)
"Four Door Aventador": well-structured song. perfect, even flow from Nicki (5/5)
"Favorite": I really enjoyed this song.. reminded me of a more up-tempo version of Future's Real and True.. Nicki was impressive.. the last minute could've been left off (4/5)
"Buy A Heart": smh.. Meek Mill was so bad on this one... sonically, it was overall pretty good though (2/5)
"Trini Dem Girls": I really, really, really want to hate this song but it had a good flow and Lunchmoney Lewis performed well (3/5)
"Anaconda": speaking of wanting to hate a song... respect though, it shows how big a pop song can blow up when performed right and Nicki's first verse was borderline fire. I'm just gonna pretend the last minute wasn't included.. (4/5)
"The Night Is Still Young": more glossed-over pop.. filled with empty cliches.. I'm actually genuinely disappointed in Nicki with this one. The two pop songs I hated on previously actually showed effort and had their moments, I just view them as clear misses. This one was a clear, bland attempt at getting some youtube views and/or radio play (0/5)
"Pills N Potions": and this.. this is good pop rap. beautiful. meaningful. Nicki killed it. (5/5)
"Bed Of Lies": another great pop rap record.. Skylar Grey was impressive, as was Nicki. you could hear the emotion in her voice on this one.. a powerful performance, maybe one of the best of her career (5/5)
"Grand Piano": I didn't like this one quite as much as some people did, but it was heartfelt.. it felt like most of the song was her repeating the chorus though (3/5)

This album takes nicki minaj back to her hip hop roots. This album shows great diversity between songs. this is a prime example of why nicki minaj is the queen of rap and the most successful female rapper of all time.

Sorry, but the PinkPrint, is really killin' that, you listen other albuns of female rappers (like Iggy) you just listen rap with eletro beats, and Nicki kill with a mix of old school, pop , and New Rap , thats amazing, and she really demonstrate her voice, she kill on Grand Piano, and other musics... but Mona Lisa, is really borinng

Clearly this album shows how much Nicki has grown as an artist. There's no doubt that she's a lyrical force to be reckoned with, relying on her what she raps rather than the hooks. With the ballads "I Lied" and "Grand Piano" Nicki shows she's more than just a rapper but that she's an artist who performs from the soul. The Pinkprint is her deepest and most emotional album to date, speaking upon Heart break, lost of a family member and her relevance and experience on the throne. There's even a few fun tracks where she continues to show her humor. The title of the album "The Pinkprint" is just the start of what the album is and will be. So far this is her best album because its personal and each line from each song comes from within her. For being original and sticking true to herself and to the genre of Hip Hop in which she promised this album would be, i give it a 10. Expand

  1. An understandable desire to have her traumas understood by everybody inevitably results in a bland mush of melodrama. Despite this, The Pinkprint is Nicki Minaj’s most successful album by a fairly wide margin, as she becomes more empathetic than at any point in the past while Pink Friday’s DMZ between pop and rap becomes little more than a historical footnote in her career.

For the most part, though, this seems like a step in the wrong direction: a Nicki Minaj album from somebody who’s thoroughly fed up of being Nicki Minaj.

The Pinkprint has moments. Some are great, but most are not.
