MojoMay 24, 2016The Machine Stops proves that Dave Brock's sonic adventures still have plenty to say, and inspired ways in which to say it. [Jul 2016, p.95]
-
May 12, 2016Dave Brock has long used his artistry with Hawkwind to entertain yet also to get us to think. This is among his most effective blows.
-
May 12, 2016Their best album in some considerable time.
-
UncutMay 12, 2016The band haven't sounded quite so spirited for some time. [Jun 2016, p.74]
-
May 12, 2016The Machine Stops sounds like Hawkwind--a diluted version of what they sounded like at their peak, to be sure, but still Hawkwind, as eccentric and individual as ever.
-
May 12, 2016“Harmonic Hall” is a pseudo serious semi-Arabic sounding pointless exercise in sequencing and doesn’t aid the soporific nature of the record one iota. The rest of the record is nothing more than pieced together bits of overwrought musicality that were always present since the 90’s but never given center stage until now.
