It's pretty good. I've never felt inclined to listen to a full AG record so I'm pleasantly surprised.

It is reminiscent of Melodrama if Lorde made it with more mainstream elements — such as trap snares and an abundance of voice-shifting.

By no means perfect, it falls into cliches at times, but thank, u next is a real enjoyable album

A step up from her previous album "Sweetener" but still the production and the lyrics aren't even close to her vocal ability. There are lots of forgettable and filler track but also some deep cuts (Fake Smile, Needy, Ghostin)

Easily her best and her most cohesive work yet. It's catchy and there are no skips despite its short production time and its short length. There is something special about the making of this album; despite the recent struggles she faced, she managed to put out a great album in a short amount of time, which also serves as a healing process and a bonding moment for her with everyone involved.

Such a cohesive piece of work for the pop elite Ariana. She injects so much honesty into the attitude and swagger she brings into the table, without coming off arrogant. As appropriate as the title is, she's all so grateful to be here, to be a performer, to be the time's best, and to be following her own rules. I love this album and it hasn't stopped being on repeat.

Ariana does a good job playing the femme fatale here, there are some emotionally devastating moments here that are unique and worthwhile additions to her discography, though the experimental flavor of Sweetener is missed. Not the evolution I was hoping for, but it seems this album was made more for "U".

With even more maturity and cohesion than Sweetener, she makes a really work of art.

A definitive step-up from last August's "Sweetener", "thank u, next" is an enjoyable record, and it makes the best out of big productions and Ariana Grande's airy beautiful vocals. The record opens up with one of Ariana's best songs (probably ever), 'imagine' that features her singing over an R&B beat and then hitting whistle notes she hadn't done in a while. The album then moves on to great tracks, such as the previously teased 'needy' which sees Grande confessing her insecurities, and 'bloodline' which is a very fun cut, great for playing at parties, that almost sounds like a sequel to 'Side to Side', her collab with Nicki Minaj from "Dangerous Woman". Another great song is 'bad idea', which builds and breaks and ends... right until it is revived into a very well-placed instrumental outro that strikes all the right strings. The absolute highlight would be 'ghostin': Ariana gets really personal, and sings in a very tender manner, giving the listener a piece of her mind, and it's then, when she's most vulnerable and authentic, that she is at her best. The singles '7 rings' and 'thank u, next' wouldn't have been this consumed and this big if they weren't as great as you'd think, and the closer, 'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored' is a song made while being in the same mindset: making a good radio-ready hit. However, "thank u, next" misses at some points, like on tracks like 'make up', 'fake smile'. 'in my head', which are lyrically weak and sonically redundant, and 'NASA', which would've been better had its chorus not been this repetitive.
All in all, "thank u, next" is a really solid collection of 12 very-well produced songs that manage to leave a good trace in the american singer's catalog.

The lead title track is a rare kiss off that doesn't become accusatory and hateful, instead taking each lost relationship as lessons. It's popularity wasn't surprising giving how well ariana packages a record and captures a zietgist so wholly. Tge aforementioned is present on the capitalist 'girlboss' sound of music indept "7rings"(possibly her biggest commercial song ) which despite it's confusing use of AAVE , blackfishing or theft of art direction from 2chainz is an achievement. The emotional centerpiece "ghostin" is one of her most personal songs (even sampling it's subject matters song "2003"). It's a insight into grieving an ex who stayed as a friend whilst you've moved on,the confusing politics of that loss and the uncomfortable position it places your partner. This is truly a pop masterpiece with no skip in sight. The catchy AF ''NASA" makes time to oneself an interstellar commitment or the fun "in my head " makes an exercise out of deciphering a lovers intentions &actions . The production deserves it's own mention, it's sprawling quasi-trap with the essential violins/orchestra embellishments. A true magnum opus for sure. Expand

Sweetener was a great album. But this one is her opus. Current, cohesive, playful, melancholy, understated, and refined, Grande’s “thank u next” is a Millennial masterpiece. The heartbreaking “ghostin” is possibly the best song she has given us to date, and “break up with your girlfriend, im bored,” is the Twitter-era, penthouse-jam we need in 2019.

Songs like imagine, needy, NASA, bloodline, and ghostin are really good tracks. Taylor Swift for "reputation" layered vocals and instruments to make a deep and layered production while Ariana prioritized shorter sessions at the cost of meh instrumentals and almost 0 vocal layering. I think it's a good album but is it as good as the critics lead on? No way. It's a step up from "Sweetener" but still fails to capture the magic that Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry can make. Great album! So many good songs on here. Generally better than Sweetener, although still not my favourite! Highlights for me include Bloodline, Ghostin and Break Up With Your Girlfriend Im Bored.

-1 point for 7 Rings, don't really like it that much. Otherwise, fantastic!

When Ariana released 'thank u, next' only half a year after 'Sweetener', as a stan I was like "WOAH!"
However, on first listen, I did not like this album as much as Sweetener. After a year has passed, thank u, next is her second best album, behind Sweetener. My only issue with this album is that it feels like her most formulaic album since My Everything.

I will always cherish the Sweetner/TUN era of her career (April 2018-December 2019), even more since I got to see her for the first time on the Sweetener Tour last June.

Ariana flexes that stunning voice with ease and the production suits it perfectly. "thank u, next", "7 Rings", and "bloodline" are incredible songs that stand out amongst the rest.

Ariana has been evolving since Dangerous Woman, but this time she is totally stuck, her predecessor Sweetener sounded cheerful, funny and full of life, instead thank u, next is totally the opposite, gloomy, depressing, sad, for boring moments and flat, like his was the B side. It's a shame that she's going for this musical style and not exploring other areas a little more pop. The first part and the final part of the album is the only thing that can be rescued, everything else sounds like filler songs that were recorded in a day without any concern that they sound good or have some degree of quality, it would seem that most of the songs are demos or unfinished models. I would not say it's bad, it's just mediocre and it's sad, after 2 good albums that it has released. "thank u, next". Expand

Her best album so far. Ariana doesn't worried about offering a boring pop material as her other albums maybe seemed.Instead of it, 'thank u, next' is a sophomore declaration of courage and empathy, that grows up through its skip-less, adorable songs.

This album is a true pop masterpiece. It's more eclectic, sonically interesting, and well produced than any other pop record. There is no denying that what Ariana does, she does well. There is nothing earth-shattering about this album. Generic pop fills and standard R&B samples fill Grande’s latest outing from start to finish, but I’ll be damned if you don’t find yourself nodding your head and tapping your toes. 7 out of 10
Tracks to enjoy: “fake smile”, “ghostin”, & “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored”

One of the best albums of his career without a doubt, and the most iconic one full of sincere songs and with great instrumentals, each song reflects a different feeling and at the same time, they have the same essence except for "Break up with your girlfriend I'm bored. "It presents a sound not so cohesive but very attractive. The album presents us with a real artist who is perfectly imperfect.

The whole album is worth it. Each track you’re gonna find good lyrics which match perfectly with the beats and her unique voice. It’s a very emotional atmosphere with some personal songs and others very creative and uplifting.

thank u, next builds on Sweetener by switching modes of scale. It’s less about looking at the world than being by yourself, more focused on the textures of memory than our actions stemming from it. ... thank u, next is also Ariana’s most stunning vocal album.

[7 Rings] is a hit, but isn’t actually all that great, using Rodgers and Hammerstein’s My Favourite Things as its sing-song musical base. The rest of the album remains of interest for its evolutions in sound, delivery and attitude.
