    This is an incredible debut album - there was a lot of hype surrounding it, and it definitely lives up to expectations, which is incredibly refreshing in today's musical landscape!

    This is the first album in a LONG time I have played all the way through without skipping a track. Each song tells a different story that is super relatable. Some great club tracks on there, some emotional ones and also some that make you wanna hit sh*t! There is def a number one hit in this album, dope as f**k! Impressive

    What a debut! All the expected appeal of an excellent pop album, mixed with the unexpected complexity brought by an intelligent, woke songwriter. It’s somehow nostalgic, contemporary and futuristic all at the same time - it sees you, it raises you.

    One of the best albums released in 2020 (or maybe even in the 2000s). Every single song has a meaning, the lyrics are fantastic. Rina really knows how to surprise the listener, because she's mixing every single genre and still getting a masterpiece as a result. She's been literally reinvesting the music industry for a while now and I'm excited to see what the future holds for her. I knowOne of the best albums released in 2020 (or maybe even in the 2000s).     She really knows what she's doing here. A lot of genres can be seen in this album, but there's still a certain sound that makes her music so special. She's a genius. A lot of the lyrics have a deeper meaning. The album is extremely enjoyable. She's definitely an artist you should look out for.

    A true imersive travel beyond pop-rock music mixing references of nu-metal, j-pop (hi ayumi hamasaki) with true vivid emotional lyrics about her life story, an ode to all emo pre-teen who spent all entire day listening to Avril Lavigne pretending she was Nirvana.

    Enaltecendo sua raiz japonesa e trazendo o POP dos anos 90 de volta, além de misturar Rock, ela merece todo reconhecimento

Mas esse álbum literalmente superou todas as minhas expectativas como fã e seguidor de seus lançamentos desde Where U Are. Em momento algum Sawayama deixa a desejar mesmo quando se tem uma canção mid-tempo dentre tantas up-tempo,Rina já havia entregado conceito e coesão em seu primeiro mini álbum, mostrando que veio pra conquistar o mundo com muita personalidade e identidade artística. Mas esse álbum literalmente superou todas as minhas expectativas como fã e seguidor de seus lançamentos desde Where U Are. Em momento algum Sawayama deixa a desejar mesmo quando se tem uma canção mid-tempo dentre tantas up-tempo, esta é tão bem produzida quanto as outras. Versatilidade é o que mais me atrai em um artista, e a Rina conseguiu entregar isso de uma forma tão magnífica e perspicaz que nos tira o ar quando escutamos canções como Dinasty, XS e até a enigmática Akasaka Sad.     This is absolutely fire. Rina kills it with her vocals, blended with amazing choices for production on every song on this album. From the build-up on Dynasty, to her sampling her prior work in 10-20-40 and Take Me As I Am on Rina in F*** This World (Interlude), she does no wrong on this album and it's an amazing listen whether it be the first time listening or the enthh time listening.

    SAWAYAMA is an excellent, triumphant debut from one of the most exciting voices in pop music today. every track is expertly produced and created with clear intent behind every sound, every lyric, and every transition.     from every conceivable standpoint, this album is phenomenal. as mentioned before, the production is top-tier and i'm super impressed with rina and clarence's work. the lyrics are exactly what they need to be and where they need to be to fit each songs themes, and astoundingly wind between different and very deep-rooted emotions. on top of that, this album is politically aware and culturally important, thanks to the messages presented in chosen family, XS, STFU, and more (pretty much every track actually).

    just all around fantastic. i truly hope it gets the recognition and success it so evidently deserves.    … Expand

    Album of the year!!! She created a mix of sonorities which are all very diferent from themselves but together worked really well. Also, the lyrics are incredibly good.

    This Album was a Pop masterpiece, it completely mastered her refined aesthetic while taking daring and elegant genre risks, this album had original and personal stories unique to Sawayama which made the listener feel a range of emotions throughout the album.

    Above and beyond what I was expecting! Every song is such a standout and features different music genres. Will be streaming for several hours straight. Paradisin’ gets me so hype and is back to back with Akasaka Sad which is another one of my favorites. Literally none of the songs were bad, the consistency in production was there, 10/10 for me :)

    Album of the year so far. Very experimental production with great vocals and harmonies. There is pop, rock, R&B, even metal. Cohesive body of art. Everyone should listen to this album.

    An absolutely excellent album. She bends elements from almost every genre into 13 amazing tracks. Every song has it’s own identity, yet the album remains VERY cohesive. In short, she did that.

I never liked this kind of music, of just by accident, heard Bad Friend and it captivated me right in the chorus. Searched for the singer and now I’ve been listening to Sawayama for 2 days straight. It really sums up the perfect mix of pop, kind of a metal that I’m not used to, strong story telling and aRina just gave me a new sight of what our minds can do when it’s related to feeling... I never liked this kind of music, of just by accident, heard Bad Friend and it captivated me right in the chorus. Searched for the singer and now I’ve been listening to Sawayama for 2 days straight. It really sums up the perfect mix of pop, kind of a metal that I’m not used to, strong story telling and a voice that fits every beat without making it something weird to listen. Really really loving this album as days goes by. I personally recommend those who are curious about her work to listen to STFU!, Bad Friend, Who’s Gonna Save U Now? and XS.     This is one of the best pop albums of all time. There's a lot of people who are coming to claim the title of 'pop music saviour' but that person really is Rina Sawayama. Nobody else manages to infuse pop music and politics the way she does, and this is what we need our pop music to do: we need it to say something. Finally, the saviour has arrived!

    Recently I've been listening to all the top rated albums as per Metacritic and roughly 92% of them have been truly woeful. No flow, proper singing, talent or anything redeeming. I can honestly say this album is a breath of fresh air, I've never heard of Rina before but wow this girl can sing. Great tunes, catchy, fresh and different all at the same time. Highly    WOW....blown away!

    Not a single skip, this is the best pop album of the 2020... it has tons of 2000's influences, destiny's child, evanescence but updated and extremely polished feels very fresh and it'll probable stay this way for a few decades. Lot of personality and detail.

    Track for track, one of the best albums I’ve heard. Where else can I hear references as varied as Beyoncé’s “I Care”, to Evanesence, to Slipknot, to Carly Rae Jepsen, to Final Fantasy? She even uses what I believe is the sound a Mac makes when you click outside of a required dialog box without interacting with it (2:01 into Akasaka Sad).
    That’s not even to touch on the emotions evoked by    Track for track, one of the best albums I’ve heard. Where else can I hear references as varied as Beyoncé’s “I Care”, to Evanesence, to Slipknot, to Carly Rae Jepsen, to Final Fantasy? There’s a feeling here I’ve only ever felt from queer musicians: a feeling that they know my pain, like I’m being hugged and told that it’s all okay. Its the sort of feeling I get from the likes of Christine and the Queens, St. Vincent, Perfume Genius, Clairo, and King Princess, among others. Rina gets it.     Nossa, esse álbum tem letras poderosas, uma produção impecável e a Rina tem uma alcance vocal maravilhoso, eu estou muito feliz em ver uma artista recente, com um grande potencial, buscando "reviver" aquele estilo mais pop-rock que foi com o tempo, infelizmente, ficando esquecido. Me lembra um pouco o Born This Way em uma versão mais atualizada. Recomendo!!

    Rina Sawayama is an exceptional artist. Her debut album provides a window into her world & what a wonderful world it is. Listening to the songs in order is an ethereal experience. One of the best pop albums of 2020

    AOTY!!! This album is so amazing, every track has something to offer without keeping you bored. The whole album is zero skips. From the First song to the last, I enjoyed it. Y’all should also check out Cherry and Alterlife by Rina Sawayama.

    I was really anxious about Rina’s debut album but this really surprised me. It’s amazing and one of the bests 2020 albums loved sm and hoping that everybody who listen to this love too anyway I love everything about this album since lyrics to the melodys and of course the concept itself.     One of the best pop albums released this year, deserves Album of the Year! The album was very cohesive and the tracks were unforgettable. Rina has basically revived the pop sound with this debut album with her amazing lyricism.

    Literalmente, es un álbum innovador, pegadizo y íntimo que mezcla ritmos del pop y rock sin perder la esencia del alternativo ya que en él la artista retrata sus emociones en diversas contextos de su vida; además Rina es una artista que está empezando a resaltar en la industria musical para mí es buen inicio.

    wow. wow. wow. wow. This is so good. one of my fav albums of all time. Songs like XS, dynasty, bad friend, and chosen family are so amazing that they're enough to make this album a 10/10
