Lyrically, this album is pretty mediocre in fair honesty. It is the production however, which keeps this album truly lit and enjoyable. The production from Scott is incredible, and this album is obviously influenced from Yeezus in terms of the abrasive, experimental-trap sound. Plenty of bangers and awesome album!

This album to be honest I felt was the ultimate cohesion of yeezus, days before and owl pharaoh I felt this album did exactly what it set out to do and is a strong contender for album of the year at this point. Travis definitely upped the ante on this album and put the game on notice

Blown away by Travi$ on this one. As every artist grows and changes, so does their music and this is a work of art. Not so impressed with the production wished Travi$ wouldve handled it a little more. Other than that, Album of the Year, with great features. My favorite from the album is Maria, Im Drunk ft. Justin Bieber and Young Thug!

I would say this is definitely one of the best album of the decade. The album introduces this new psychedelic trap sound that wasn’t heard before, it atleast not in this way. It’s difficult in me not to name every song, as each song has its unique trap sound, that doesn’t seem to get repetitive, every song gives you a new experience, a new vibe and a new vibe, each with their own story about Travis. We can see a bit more into Travis personal life in tracks like “impossible”, that give us such emotional journey, while Travis talks about his him being trapped with unloving someone, something which a lot of listers can relate to definitely. The features in the album definitely fit their place and give their own stamp on the track, with “Maria I’m drunk” having possibly the best Justin Bieber verse. The ending of this album (non-deluxe Version) gives us possible the best ending of an album, telling us his life about making it on his own, not feeding off his parents anymore, and finally finding his passion and a place in the world, giving the name “Travis Scott” a place in the hip-hop and music world. This is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I constantly return to it constantly, this album is worth a 10/10. Expand

Travis Scott's debut album Rodeo is a fantastic start to his career. The beats are extremely dope, the production is great, and the features on this album did their thing. I absolutely loved all the songs on the album. Rodeo is an excellent start to Travis Scott's career. I Highly Recommend it.

The longer than average rap songs that are the majority of this album (more than 1 hour's worth) has progressive changes in terms of creeping production transitions and overly auto-tuned vocals to enhance the sonically thematic album.
While not lyrically dense like To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar that came out the same year of 2015, it holds its place as a trap classic that music lovers can reflect on as the trap trend will go to pass eventually and maybe laugh at the critic's reviews for such a blunder for misidentifying Rodeo's formation

Rodeo is Travis's best body of work so far. Travis was finally able to carve out his own signature style. The album has has a strong spacious atmosphere and psychedelic feeling. Rodeo is diverse in terms of sound aswell, offering more lowkey balad like cuts for example 90210 or club bangers like Nightcrawler. The features mostly work fine to compliment the sound of the record.

The production is incredible, Travis' lyrics are meaty and important, and there are few mediocre to bad tracks. The album opens up with Pornography which introduces us to the type of person Travis is through T.I.'s monologues and the lyrics themselves. Following the intro track, is Oh My Dis Side, one of the first of Travis' many two parters, and the second part features great verse from Travis and Quavo. Another high point on the album is 90210, my favorite song on the album. The first part is dark and psychedelic and features Kacy Hill belting over Travis' melodic singing/rapping. The first part melts into the second part where Travis displays his lyrical ability with an an amazing verse full of quotables. The are many other high points on the album such as the trippy Nightcrawler, the catch Antidote, and a great second verse on I Can Tell. There are few songs that don't sit well with me which is why this album is perfect. Expand

I have it on good authority that Rodeo is the kind of album that occupies a largish place in the annals of music history, the kind of album we use to demonstrate the moment where everything changed.

Rodeo might not be Travis Scott's most consistent work, but it's certainly his most interesting. Each of these songs hit, but more importantly, the leave open threads that other equally-inspired, like-minded artists can feel free to explore to their logical end, where there lie not only a pot of gold, but, in fact, another rainbow.

As for our narrator himself, Travis succeeds as an honest, introspective storyteller by celebrating and exploring the potential conceits of his outwardly aggressive demeanor, while also shining a light on his sensitivities, particularly in the thoughtful "diary track" 90210, which is the kind of track that turns ardent skeptics into passionate devotees, a spiritual successor of a sort to Wu-Tang's C.R.E.A.M.

It's really something to look at old reviews of this album which describe the album's now-iconic production as "futuristic." It's telling of Scott's talents and force-of-personality that this "Sound of the Future" has it's DNA in most every hip-hop record since its inception, and in a more than generous helping of pop and rock albums. And more to the point, this must be some sort of optimistic diversion, one which elects to reward the boundary pushing, exciting, yet also thoughtful, provocative, and ultimately, sincere.

The feature list is incredible, with Kacy Hill’s vocals gliding through 90210 or The Weeknd crooning on Pray 4 Love or Swae Lee and Chief Keef’s hazy club trap sound on Nightcrawler. Not only is this album very influential for music now, it was ahead of it’s time. In 2015, trap music wasn’t a thing yet and rap was growing in different ways. After this album, a new path for rap was born and artists since then have followed this way of rap immensely. Another important aspect of this piece is that no song sounds alike and the sound in this album has grown from Travis Scott’s previous project, days before rodeo. This variety in styles of rap throughout the album makes this album easy to enjoy for a variety of listeners, as there’s different songs for everyone that all come together in a cohesive special package. If you look at this album in Travis’s discography and compare it to his former and latter albums, this album defines his sound that he elbowed into the super star he is today. Next, after talking to listeners today after 5 years since the release, the album has immense replay value and is still very popular today. Lastly, while talking with other listeners we all agreed that after 5 years of this album being out, there’s nothing like it. No one has released something close to this album with this much influence and importance. All in all, this album defines the change of rap music in the 2010’s and is a 10/10 in my eyes. Expand
