Redstar Wu & the Worldwide Scourge emphasises not so much his influences but his uniqueness within Australian music, channelling his lived experiences as a Black artist into unabashedly political songs that remain open, accessible and outright fun. .... The album is also a reminder that art – especially this raw and human – is itself a source of hope.

Many albums will undoubtedly be written about the fractured world in which we live right now, but few are likely to be quite as slick and potent as this one.

This is the most focused, aggressive music of the artist’s career.

Falling Both Ways blends echo-laden percussion and threatening vocals like OutKast, while Pirate Radio owes more than titular similarity to This Is Radio Clash. .... Where does he go next? Wherever he wants. [Jul 2026, p.89]

You can’t fault Owusu’s ambition, nor his ability to translate his furies and fears into a response that feels genuinely reactive and urgent. On his third album, he’s made a truly modern version of a protest record.
