    Love it.
It s a great Pop Album with lots of good - great Songs.
Madonna is back in her classical form.
Nobody kills it like Madonna is able. There is not one Song I dont like.
Much much better than her last two Albums.

"Heart" sounds like a step ahead in a right direction for Madonna, but the singer seems to be lost between her desire to get back on the scene trying to work with trendy produced and the lyrical side of her nature. Overall it really sounds overproduced, you can clearly see some great-written songs hidden behind dance-club noises

Living for Love. Pirmais albuma singls, kuru izpildod 2015. gada Britawards Madonna graciozi nomaucās. Principā, dziesma labi iederētos Medžas 2005. gada eklektiskajā popmūzikas albumā “Confessions on the dance floor”. Dziesmu vokāli papildina pagājušā gada deju hita “Ready for your love” izpildītājs MNEK, savukārt, muzikāli dziesmu bagātina Ališas Kīzas klavierspēle. Taču šeit gan jāpiemin, ka manuprāt, pirmā popmūzikas dziesma ar līdzīgu elementu bija 2011. gada Britnijas Spīrsas iedziedātā “Till the world ends”. Kopumā dziesma laba, bet, manuprāt, ne labākais brīdis albumā, taču iesākumam piemērota.

Devil Pray. Dziesma, ko īsumā varētu raksturot kā “kabala vidusskolai”. Madonna vienmēr ir iesaistījusi savus reliģiskos uzskatus mūzikā, visizteiktāk un detalizētāk 1998. gada “Ray of ligth” jeb Madonnas fanu vecajā derībā un jau pieminētajā “Confessions on the dance floor”, kas būtu jaunā derība. “And we can do drugs; and we can smoke weed; and we can drink whiskey (..), and we can sniff glue; and we can do E; and we can drop acid.. Forever been lost with no way home”.

As though the 6 early tracks from 2014 weren't enough, Madonna's 24-song and 13th LP is a hit amongst cool moms and their children. Opened by "Living for Love", Ciccone knows how to open an album with a strong track. The drug-boasting "Devil Pray" is a bit repetitive and the oddest track from the bunch, but it may score high with the teenagers who have the munchies. "Ghosttown" is a wonderfully written ballad with slight auto-tune, but enough spice to keep things interesting. "Unapologetic B****" is the expected track from the album, but track 5, "Illuminati", is the song no one expected. The aforementioned track is a catchy, creative, and cool–something that you don't hear everyday. "B**** I'm Madonna" is the sorta sequel to 2012's "Give Me All Your Luvin'", but rapper Nicki Minaj comes in to save the day with a smart and snappy hook. "Hold Tight" is an interesting track, solely produced by Madonna herself. "Joan of Arc" is a tad boring with lyrics that sound like she doesn't know what she's talking about. The Mike Tyson-pitched "Iconic" is highly unique and features another rap hook from Chance the Rapper. "HeartBreakCity" is the step-sister of "Ghosttown": sad and heartbreaking, but with more compelling and believing lyrics. "Body Shop"'s whispered vocals and unclear lyrics are a bit 'been there, done that', but it's not all that bad. "Holy Water" is a parent's worst nightmare wrapped in a shiny 4 minute song, but honestly, it's catchy and quite brilliant. "Inside Out" is a mesmerizing track with yells and whispers, the better "Body Shop". Lastly, the album's closer, "Wash All Over Me", is the best ballad on the album, with excellent production and tear-jerker lyrics. Deluxe tracks "Best Night" and "Veni Vidi Vici" aren't half bad, "S.E.X." is a kinky and playful song about the physical activity, "Messiah" is the final ballad on the album–another good one, while the titular closer is surprisingly cheerful and empowering.

Overall, Rebel Heart is the compelling comeback from 2012's underwhelming MDNA. "Living for Love" and "Wash All Over Me" are strikingly different, but in a good, good way. "Joan of Arc" and "Body Shop" are a bit boring, but alongside the rest of the album, the overall product is quite good.

    Greats:
    - "Living for Love"
    - "Wash All Over Me"

    Nadirs:
    - "Joan of Arc"
    - "Body Shop"

    Overall Rating: 9/10

Her latest album, Rebel Heart, fuses a lot of genres but it is a pop album. I own the Super Deluxe edition which features additional songs that are not included on the regular or deluxe versions.
One thing about Madonna's style, especially since 2000 is her fusion of rock, pop, trance, hip hop, and R&B. Rebel Heart is no exception to this. I think this album of hers is her best release

Conceptually, Madonna describes this album as a two-in-one. The name Rebel Heart implies two sides to her persona: the Rebellious Madonna, and the Heartfelt sensitive Madonna. Musically, this album was created with a large number of producers, something Madonna has never done before on an album. Typically, Madonna works with one or two producers per album. The wide range of producers on Rebel Heart created songs that fuse multiple genres together:
Rock n Roll fused with Dance/Pop: The songs that have a guitar-based instrument on which the rest of the EDM and Madonna's lyrics are built, include Addicted, Rebel Heart, Joan Of Arc, Borrowed Time, Grafiti Heart, Devil Pray, Ghosttown, and Body Shop (which uses the Indian Sari instrument). Each of these songs start with the guitar hook. Some have acoustic guitar, and others, like Addicted, have the electric guitar as the central instrument. The producers fuse EDM beats on top of the guitar hooks, and in combination with Madonna's voice creates a rich blended listening experience.

These songs fuse piano bars reminiscent of the days of the Blues, with dance, pop, or R&B: HeartBreakCity, Messiah, Wash All Over Me. These songs are melancholy in nature, sort of like Madonna's version of the Blues, but fused with moderate paced pop drum beats, synthetics, and rich dramatic vocals. These songs produce a different feel from her guitar based tracks.
Her first single from the album, Living for Love, fuses the Gospel genre with pop and dance. It starts out with classic Madonna-esque pop sounds reminiscent of her 80s and 90s era. The track does include a choir of people singing the chorus in the background.

Her song, Unapologetic **** fuses a Reggae beat and Hip Hop. The base of the song is in Reggae style, with the Hip Hop beats and sounds added over it. The pace of the song is that of the Reggae style, moderate, not fast.

Her remaining tracks that I did not name, particularly **** I'm Madonna, Veni Vidi Vici, Iconic, and S.E.X. are very much Hip Hop and R&B infused tracks. She either raps on these tracks or sings and features guest rappers like Nicki Minaj and Nas.

In terms of Musicology, Madonna's Rebel Heart (Super Deluxe) edition is an excellent album for study because she successfully fuses multiple genres: Rock, Blues, Gospel, Pop, Dance, Hip Hop, R&B, Piano jazz. Additionally, the lyrics to these tracks are all written or co-written by Madonna, and her prowess to write powerful lyrics that captures her essence as a persona is as strong today as it was when she first hit the scene in 1981.

But the album could have been one of the best of Madonna if she had retained the material of her demo versions, especially in "Wash All Over Me" and "Beautiful Scars".

Here's a track by track review of the standard edition.

The album opens with a powerful dance anthem "Living For Love". After the heartache (breakup), Madonna feels empowered and there's no place for sadness or regrets. She says "I can forgive but I'll never forget".
The 2nd track - "Devil Pray" is easily the best track on the album. It's the best song Madonna has written in years. "Ghosttown" is another gem in the album where Madonna sings her heart out, says - "Tell me how we got this far/every man for himself/everything's gone to hell"
"Unapologetic **** is a ****y song which reflects the unapologetic nature of her madjesty, the Queen of Pop, MADONNA.
In the Kanye West assisted song "Illuminati", Madonna says - "It's like everybody in the praty shinning like illuminati" She refers a list of names here including - Beyonce, Jay Z, Queen of Britain, Gaga, Bill Gates and many others.
With **** I'm Madonna, she states that she's Madonna, "Who do you think you are?". You can't match her forte.
"Hold Tight" is a love song about holding hands in tough times.
In "Body Shop"she compares herself to a car and promises her lover "I would ride to the ends of the earth for you...I would ride through the dark of the night with you"
With "Iconic" she brings Mike Tyson in the Rebel Heart project and declares that if you "want to be a superstar" then understand her self made concept - "I can, Icon; 2 letters apart"
In my favourite track "Holy Water" she says **** get off my pole...Kiss it better/make it wetter/Don't it taste like Holy Water?"
"Inside Out" is a sex oriented song which finds Madonna singing her sex fantasies.
"Messiah", "HeartBreakCity", "Joan of Arc", "Wash All Over Me" are her vulnerable sides where she gives stunning vocal performance, Avicii flavoured beats and piano; and the orchestral piece. She closes the album saying "If this is the end then let it come/let rain/rain all over me...let it flow"

Jewel of the album - "Devil Pray"

Rebel Heart, like its creator, pushes through the pain and, more often than not, lands solidly and with great grace on its feet. Rebel Heart has its fair share of those head-scratchers.... [But] Rebel Heart is a step back in the right direction.

Madonna's comeback after 2 poor efforts. This is raw and honest. Her Rebel side and her 'romantic/soft'side. I love the deluxe tracks and i'd remove a few desperate (to sound young and current) tracks. This could've been a great album had they not included the aforementioned tracks that give nothing to the album.

Madonna reclaims the crown with Rebel Heart, an album that dwells into the heart, soul and power of the Queen of Pop. From **** I'm Madonna to Wash All Over Me, it is an album worth loving and listening and this will be in history as one of her greatest works. God save the queen.

Very good album. It has deep lyrics, bops and it's diverse. Only point to make is that some demos were way better than the final cuts.

This album as half good and half not.

Good songs: "Living for Love," "Devil Pray," "Ghosttown," "Joan of Arc," "Wash All Over Me," "Messiah," and "Rebel Heart."

"Joan of Arc" and "Rebel Heart" are two of my favorite Madonna tracks.

    The rest is major MEHHHHH.

Yesterday was this album's fifth anniversary. "Rebel Heart" was a return to form for Madonna. Her previous two albums "Hard Candy" (2008) and "MDNA" (2012) were both trend chasing and had terrible songs on them. Both albums didn’t age well and they were not what you want from Madonna as she usually sets the trends and doesn’t follow them. Her previous two albums "Hard Candy" (2008) and "MDNA" (2012) were both trend chasing and had terrible songs on them. Both albums didn’t age well and they were not what you want from Madonna as she usually sets the trends and doesn’t follow them. With "Rebel Heart", Madonna wanted to show her romantic and rebellious sides. It’s primarily a pop album but incorporates elements of house, trap, acoustic, gospel and world music. It never gets boring. The first single "Living For Love" also serves as the album opener. It’s a great, fun pop song and features a gospel choir. Great way to kick off the album and era.
The album‘s second track "Devil Pray" is the album's highlight. The verses are slow with acoustic guitars and then a hypnotizing addictive baseline suprises you in the chorus. You just have to dance when you listen to this bop. This song and many others on the album (Messiah, Joan of Arc, Holy Water) have religious references which are typical for Madonna. "Holy Water" is the most scandalous out of all of them.
Of course, a Madonna album also has to have extremely sexual songs. On this album they are "S.E.X." and "Best Night". They are both bops and have a very sexy vibe. "Best Night" even references "Justify My Love" (1990), one of Madonna's many #1 hits and one of her most sexual songs of her entire career. On "Iconic" and "Veni Vidi Vici", Madonna acknowledges her legend status with a lot of references to her iconic hits. An iconic diva move. The album also has mid-tempo pop material for the radios (if the radios weren’t ageist af); HeartBreakCity, Rebel Heart, Ghosttown and Hold Tight were made for the radio. "Joan of Arc" is one of Madonna's most vulnerable songs ever as she sings about the insane media scrutiny she has received throughout her career. Truly a highlight on this record. The last track of the standard edition of the album "Wash All Over Me" is another highlight on here. It’s a beautiful ballad about acceptance that features a gospel choir. It’s an incredible song. Of course, "Rebel Heart" isn’t an extremely experimental concept album like "Ray of Light" (1998) or "American Life" (2003) but it’s a pop masterpiece and we all know Madonna is the Queen of Pop and dominates that genre so she really reclaimed her throne with this album. There is something for everybody on here. It has a total of 19 tracks and some of them could’ve been cut but not many because the majority is great. And if 19 tracks aren’t enough for you, there are 4 more bonus tracks on the special edition of the album lol. Favorites: Devil Pray, Ghosttown, Wash All Over Me, Joan of Arc & Living For Love

In general the record was a good effort from Madonna. But the leaking may have made her rework most of the songs, which were better on the demo versions.
Listening to most of the tracks as a demo made me very excited for the finished material, which once released, was a big turn-down. Almost every track was better as an unfinished work.

After the low quality MDNA, Rebel Heart is a true pop album. It has leaked 6 months before its release, rushing the promo, the production of the songs and some of the demos which were impressive (avicii ones) will never be released. It's a shame ! Devil Pray, Living for Love, Ghosttown, **** I'm Madonna, Rebel Heart are amazing songs with very diverse style.

Total souless album. Her voice here is weird and the songs are weak. Nothing like the queen use to do. Terrible and forgettable work. I would save from this ghosttown, rebel heart and **** I’m madonna. The rest is a bunch of crap music.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think Rebel Heart is Madonnas most underrated album. It’s way more better than MDNA. It still progresses the typical EDM Sound of the MDNA album but it’s way more perfected. Not every track is done perfectly but there are many good songs that catch you right away

Rebel Heart is one of Madonna's best albums; it has EDM, Pop, Ballads, R&B, Dance-pop, and so much more. Madonna's vocals are incredible throughout, and she sounds much more like her age compared to 2012's MDNA (where she sounds like she is 23). **** I'm Madonna is the best song of all time in my opinion, and Illuminati, Addicted, Devil Pray, Living For Love, are all great songs. Rebel Heart comes as a disappointment as someone who has adored specific eras from Madonna. Bafflingly it sounds almost unrecognizable to the Madonna of my most beloved eras. Understandably she was going for a new sound, but took some of the worst music trends of the 2010s and made some truly jarring with this record. The album feels clunky and misshapen in several parts. Some of the tracks are retrospective of her career and decisions she made earlier on. These were my favourite tracks as they feel heartfelt. Other tracks seem to be overtly sexual or loud and self-aggrandizing. Although Madonna has always been known for and has built an image as a sexual provocateur, these tracks sound cheap and overwrought. This album lacked polish and it does not measure up to her earlier work for me. Expand

Rebel Heart is the first Madonna album for a while that's at least as much for listeners as it is for dancers. Sometimes this shines too hard a light on what she has to say. [Apr 2015, p.88]
