    This album is wonderfully fresh, unique, triumphant and cohesive. She's grown so much as a human and artist and it bleeds through this album. She's extremely raw and consistent this 'Rare'. Highlights on the album are 'Dance Again' 'Vulnerable' 'Let Me Get Me' ' Crowded Room' and 'A Sweeter Place'

    This album is simply incredible. It is so diverse but coherent at the same time. those saying it sounds the same only think that because she uses a soft voice when singing. But every song on the album has its own identity and meaning. I think the only weak song is People You Know because it is repetitive and does not have many lyrics.     Not a Selena fan but impressed with this album. Lyrics are much more personal and production is more varied than Revival. Rare is definitely a cohesive body of work, but I felt slightly bored to the end of the album. The first half of the album was skipless, rare, ring lytlm, vulnerable are my favorites,

    Selena Gomez made a 4 year wait definitely worth it. Rare is a perfect portfolio of growth as a person and an artist. The album is packed with lyrics about real life emotions and situations accompanied with catchy tunes. It was hard to think that any album could top Revival but Miss Gomez really topped it with Rare. Usually albums have at least one song that is a skip but this album has noSelena Gomez made a 4 year wait definitely worth it. Rare is a perfect portfolio of growth as a person and an artist.     I'm a little disappointed. After bad liar and fetish came out in 2017 I was like YES miss selena this is what we need . I heard this album 2 times . The only songs that really grasp your attention and are enjoyable are ring , rare and lose you to love me . I still have hope for her next album tho :)

    Best tracks: ***Crowded Room, Ring, Let Me Get Me, Kinda Crazy, & Rare. After a seemingly endless four years, we (Selena’s dedicated fans/Selenators) finally got what we were hoping for. The songs are catchy, lyrical-gold tracks with a very old-timey feel (Ring, for example, transports me back to the 1920’s). We want to see this album shine.

    With a really good produced songs, Selena gave us a melancolic, symphonic and metaphorical album with lyrics that are in the same level as the instrumentals, furthermore her non-high voice give to the album a softly sound. Although with those lyrics and sounds the featurings got annoying in an album that proves it isn't collaborations nededed.

    almost a year after the release of this album. all i have to say is that Rare remains Album Of The Year. From the lyrics to the sounds to the vocals to the emotions, Selena Gomez managed to drop a very coohesive album that you can listen to daily and not get bored of. This is an amazing example of what a pop albulm is supposed to be.

In a time where the music market is filled up with generic trap and r&b songs, getting to listen to "RARE" is like a new fresh breath of air that gives you a taste of euphoria and bliss. It'sWhat a great way to start the 20's! After 4 years in the making of Selena Gomez's long awaited third studio album, it's safe to say the waiting and big anticipation has been generously rewarded. In a time where the music market is filled up with generic trap and r&b songs, getting to listen to "RARE" is like a new fresh breath of air that gives you a taste of euphoria and bliss. It's doesn't require a master's degree to see how the pop star's sound has evolved in a miraculously the best way possible though it's not also quite surprising after Gomez tasted the waters back in 2017 with "Bad Liar" & "Fetish" when they became two of her most critically acclaimed songs from her discography as "Bad Liar" became the number 1 song of the that year according to Billboard critics. All of the songs fit perfectly into the album's concept and theme both lyrically and sonically and it's obvious that Gomez has found her sound in music, a sound that not everyone is willing and able to pull up. Throughout the tracks the singer makes it very clear there's no place in her life for anything but confidence, self-acceptance and strength as she also embraces her own vulnerability and weaknesses. With the release of "RARE", Gomez raises the bar quite high and it may be hard for other artists to reach it any time soon as more and more established pop artists lean towards the "new wave" sound. With all said, it's more than clear that "RARE" is truly her best body of work (so far!) and we are only yet to see and witness the pop princess's next music triumphs.… Expand

Unfortunately, the end result is a muddled project that failed to stick the landing. Part of the issues with “Rare” is the direction they went with on the production. Unfortunately, the end result is a muddled project that failed to stick the landing. Part of the issues with “Rare” is the direction they went with on the production. The 3-4 songs (Look at Her Now, Lose You to Love Me, Ring, and Cut You Off) that stood out were brilliantly executed in my opinion. I felt the energy/emotions in those songs and are very relatable for everyone (to a certain degree) which draws the listener back to revisit them over and over. Then we’re left with the rest....although to be fair, the title track isn’t all too bad, just a bit too basic that gets saved by its production. “Fun” and “A Sweeter Place” are poison to this album and it’s quite unfortunate that Sweeter Place gets to close off the album after such a strong song (Cut You Off) got the album somewhat on track after some obvious fillers. The vocals were nothing to brag about and the lyrics weren’t strong either. Perhaps the album was hyped to the point where “Rare” didn’t stand a chance to even compete. It’s disappointing in all honesty...especially after we get a glimpse of what Selena Gomez can do, which is take the reins and really show us how talented she is. Maybe this album faced the problem of having too many cooks in the kitchen, that in the end her vision or original lyrics didn’t get to shine through.… Expand

    Selena iniciou a era Rare contando como havia superado uma fase muito difícil e como isso a levou ao amor próprio em Lose You To Love. Em seguida fomos apresentados a Look at Her Now, onde vemos o auge de sua auto estima em uma faixa muito alegre e chiclete, diferente da anterior, melancólica, mas tbm reflexiva.
    Com o álbum completo em mãos podemos ver mais dos dois lados já mostrados,    Selena iniciou a era Rare contando como havia superado uma fase muito difícil e como isso a levou ao amor próprio em Lose You To Love. Em seguida fomos apresentados a Look at Her Now, onde vemos o auge de sua auto estima em uma faixa muito alegre e chiclete, diferente da anterior, melancólica, mas tbm reflexiva.
    Com o álbum completo em mãos podemos ver mais dos dois lados já mostrados, por exemplo, sua auto estima na faixa título, Rare.
    Em Dance Again, Ring e Let Me Get Me (que traz sonoridade semelhante a antiga faixa Body Heat de seu álbum antecessor) temos ritmos mais animados e dançantes, sem deixar de lado letras inspiradoras, ousadas e fortes, enquanto em Vunerable, Crowded Room e Cut You Off temos o lado mais melancólico. Rare é muito coeso, suas faixas se conversam de modo muito claro, tanto nas letras quanto nas melodias.
    People You Know é provavelmente minha favorita do álbum, mesmo havendo melhores composições nele, seus vocais marcantes no final da faixa me lembram do timbre de Tove Lo, o que me faz desejar por uma parceria entre ambas, enquanto Fun é a faixa que menos me chama a atenção, provavelmente pela sua sonoridade mais descontraída que não atende ao resto do álbum, e curiosamente foi a última música a ser adicionada ao álbum, mas que possui uma guitarra bem marcante que traz uma vibe meio verão, praiana.
    As letras são muito maduras, queria destacar Cut You Off e Lose You To Love que são quase relatos de como Selena superou alguns relacionamentos tóxicos em sua vida.
    Rare termina com Selena se mostrando, ao mesmo tempo, esperançosa e realista em seu feat com Kid Cudi na faixa A Sweeter Place.
    Esperar 4 anos por esse álbum valeu a pena, eu não consigo sentir nada além de orgulho pela pessoa e artista incrível que Selena Gomez se tornou e está se tornando.    … Expand

    im really disappointed by rare im not a fan but i was excited after hearing lytlm... turns out the album itself sounds like a 2015 mashup of every type of song that worked at the time, lyrics are bland, not really deep and it all seems very commercial. i really was hoping for her to move on with a more mature and emotional work... not that time i guess

    What we do get is a fun listen, unfortunately no stand out bangers besides the previously released title singles, Loose You to Love Me & Look At Her Now. Comparing the amazing singles like Bad Liar and Fetish to this new collection of songs really highlights the decline in quality.     Selena gomez showed with this album that she's a Real queen ! All the songs are bops ! It's all about confidence, selflove and vulnerability. Her best album to date and one of the best ever !

    While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
