The pop princess returns. Selena decided to experiment and discover her own sound, which is rare these days. She doesn’t copy other sounds to stay popular like others, she makes her sound. It was well worth the wait.

Never done before; sonically the record is so cohesive and fresh. Truly her best best work to date - surpassing the already acclaimed "Revival". Selena's vocals have never sounded so crisp and breathtaking and the lyrical content is absolutely astounding.

I can proudly say that Rare has exceeded my expectations, Rare shows how Selena has grown more mature as an artist over the past few years. The album is very cohesive and the lyrics are gold. It is indeed a melody-pleasing and rhythmical pop-leading album. Expand

A cohesive, well put together album, showing that albums should not be rushed, but should be a thoughtful process. Gomez moves away from the generic sound every pop girl is going for nowadays, showing how it is okay to move away from this sound and discover your own. The album was definitely worth the wait!

A refreshing album in this streaming era where artists just put out generic songs for streams. A new, experimental pop-sound while also diving in new genres. Stans-out tracks are Rare, People You Know, Vulnerable. The collaborations with KID CUDI sand 6LACK are amazing as well. Selena’s best album!

Fresh, new, all the songs have a strong bass melody which reminds us of "Bad Liar". The instrumental are modern but have a vintage vibe.

The album is one of the best things that has appeared in the world in recent years! the melody, lyrics and feeling from end to end of each track. And a basic lesson in self-love and acceptance, all songs have something to relate to our lives and have a solution to this problem or learn about it. It took four years for that, and it was pretty offsetting.

Rare continually teases intriguing forays into leftfield pop, but so many of the album’s experiments come off as just that, without ever crystallizing with memorable hooks.

The record she has delivered to kickstart a new decade is a career defining release, and from a pop star who is firmly back on top of her game.

While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
