    I can't help but feel like, although Selena's vocals are pleasant to listen to and she sounds good, that the songs on this album feel as if they were a collation of rejected songs from other artist's song pools. Nothing on this album sounds like it belongs to Selena and Selena alone - feeling like any one of 15 other female popstars could have easily cut and sealed the track.

    There's    I can't help but feel like, although Selena's vocals are pleasant to listen to and she sounds good, that the songs on this album feel as if they were a collation of rejected songs from other artist's song pools. Nothing on this album sounds like it belongs to Selena and Selena alone - feeling like any one of 15 other female popstars could have easily cut and sealed the track.

    There's nothing wrong with taking a song and giving it a home but when you've spent half a decade on the album just for it to end up with a bunch of artist reject sounding songs, it feels like a low effort attempt.     This album is such a disappointment. After her string comeback with Lose You To Love Me, I thought she will be more vulnerable with raw lyrics but no. The album title song Rare is so corny and isn’t original at all.

    There are some good songs like LYTLM, the title track and I really like the bonus tracks from the deluxe version, but the songs like Fun, Ring, LAHN, Kinda Crazy are really ruining the whole album, like wtf especially Fun, I can't take that seriously.
    This would've been a better album if she scrapped those unlistenable songs and makes more better ones like LYTLM.

    While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
