Planet Her is definitely Doja’s best work.
Doja Cat as already showed us, in the past, how versatile she is and how she can always do an excellent job, no matter what genre she is on, but Planet Her is the proof that Doja is not only an excellent rapper but she is also an amazing singer, songwriter and producer.

Tracks like Ain’t S**t, Been Like This, You Right, and Payday show how different yet cohesive this album is. It’s a 10 out of 10 and there’s no doubt in my mind on that.

Most of these songs from Doja Cat's third album have the simplistic, minimalist sonic aesthetic of early 2020's pop trends, with lyrical contexts that continually repeat themselves. However, the album's thematic concept was faithfully provided as something galactic, as well as previously disclosed in the social media.

However, I do think that Doja needs to work on being emotional in some songs. The most emotional songs are "You Right," "Imagine," "Alone," "Naked," "I Don't Do Drugs." "Woman" reminds me of Fergie's Dutchess, even though it's an Afrobeat number. It's catchy from the first note. I can't stop vibing to chorus of that song - it's so addictive! "Naked" starts with some African(?)-inspiried intro, but it later turns into something more Latin driven, especially in the drop after the chorus, because on verses it contains some weird instrumentation. "Let me"Woman" reminds me of Fergie's Dutchess, even though it's an Afrobeat number. It's catchy from the first note. I can't stop vibing to chorus of that song - it's so addictive! "Naked" starts with some African(?)-inspiried intro, but it later turns into something more Latin driven, especially in the drop after the chorus, because on verses it contains some weird instrumentation. "Let me cordially invite you to this party in my pants" made me flushed. "Payday" starts off with guitar riff ig, and some twinkle effects. Doja's vocal performance reminds me of "Addiction" from Hot Pink. Regarding Young Thug...ugh what the hell is he's doing for time to time? I know he's known for really weird vocal performances, but it's just weird. The pause around 2:30 is really great, I like it. And I love how this song ends, the same guitar as at the intro, but with the beat.
"Get Into It (Yuh)" starts really weird reminiscent of "Juicy" dance moves (yes, that's what it reminds me of lol). At the end of the second verse she really reminded me of Nicki Minaj, which she later shouts out. The next is "Need to Know", and omg, this song, I love it so much. The beat is incredible, same for Doja's vocals. And the lyrics and delivery is so awesome and welcoming. She really know how to dirty talk, and every time I listen to that song I hear new lyric that makes me smirk or red. And it's hook is so adictive. "I Don't Do Drugs" starts with much deeper vocals than Doja usually uses. She raps here quite fast, and from the first note it's very intriguing. Ariana fits here perfectly fine, she gives off really awesome vocal performance.
"Love to Dream" instrumental quite reminds me of Madonna's Ray of Light - it's very chilled-out, well, how the title might suggest, mostly dream-like. "You Right" intro kinda reminds me of Saweetie's "Back to the Streets" instrumental. But the rest of the song is simply hypnotizing, chorus kinda tooks me back to mid-2000s with how Doja articulates. The Weeknd feels ok here, but I really wouldn't mind if it was Doja's solo effort. "Been Like This" starts off with quite distorted vocals, and I thought that the beat would kick with the verse starting, but it started with chorus instead. However after some time I really started to groove to this song, and its R&B nature reminds me of "Streets" from Hot Pink.
"Options" starts with fluet, and its beat is very intriguing, same for Doja's delivery. JID performance is very cool here, better than on "Not My Problem" from Future Nostalgia (Moonlight Edition). "Ain't **** is another number that reminds me of Fergie, and the hook is kinda addictive - besides that it's okay. "Imagine" has really nice beat, that reminded me of work of Polish performers like Mata or early Lil Masti. And because of heavy auto-tune, the track reminds me of "Bottom **** from Hot Pink. And it's another song, that chorus is very hypnotyzing.
"Alone"'s beat reminds me of "safety net" by Ariana Grande and Ty Dolla Sign from Positions. They are both western and relaxed, same about Doja's delivery. And like "safety net" I would probably need some time to groove to it really, however for sure that song would benefit if it was a collab. Second verse is another time where Doja raps like Nicki. The standard edition of album ends with "Kiss Me More" which contains very very nice beat, and both Doja and SZA delivers great vocals here. I really like how serious and playful this song is at the same time.
Deluxe edition bonus tracks starts off with extended version of "You Right" which is unnecessary - the original is much better, extending this song doesn't make sense simply. Another Lil Masti reminder - "Up And Down". Opening lines delivery feels kinda short, there should be more punch. Verses also end a little too early as I wanted them to be, but they provide more kick than the chorus. "Tonight" is another reminder of 2000s music with its instrumental, and collaborator - Eve. Song is passable, with slight, hearable use of auto-tune. "Ride Ride" is that kind of playful song, where we can literally imagine Doja Cat as a kitty having the best time of her life! The flow is really cool and harmonies are simply hypnotizing. "Why Why" starts with this kind of like church synths. Doja's delivery in the chorus is kinda lazy, but in the good way.
The album is really good, Doja delivered here! She presented really cohesive body of work, even though it starts with more African beats, progressing to more rap-like tracks with some pop and R&B elements, ending full disco with "Kiss Me More". Definitely all singles are the best tracks of the album, with its opener!

Doja Cat brings her own flavour into the world with 'Planet Her'. Listening to this album makes me feel like living in Doja's planet, a colourful, full-mouthed intense planet.

'Alone' is definitely the highlight of the album. Realising that the partner by your side ain't what you need, forcing what should be natural and make peace with being alone is a journey itself. 'Need to Know'

Planet Her maintains the versatility that Doja’s Hot Pink performances hinted at, but it all hinges on her knack for a singalong chorus, and fits cohesively in our ever-diversifying pop landscape. The result, while not terribly profound, is an album full of bulletproof bops, with the help of some well-chosen star collaborators.

Planet Her is a pop directed album, yet it’s still versatile and has tons of different sonorities and sounds for each song.
Even though some of the songs do get repetitive, it’s a very good album and the whole Planet Her era is so solid.
The collaborations in the album are also good and none of them are skips. Doja knows how to teleport us to her own world and she also knows how to do it

    This album is amazing!
    But...It could be more.
I think that people put so much expectation on this album, and when it's out,it's not all that we expected.
    But it's really good!
The lyrics of the musics is good but,you know,it could be better
Honestly my favorite song is Ain't ****
But in geral the album it's really good.

Bom, tem qualidade, mas não é nada uau. Não gostei das primeiras músicas (achei a sonoridade meio ???) e os feats não apresentaram nada demais. Gostei MUITO de duas músicas, incluindo a incrível Love To Dream. Enfim, é bom, mas não supera Hot Pink.

Such a step up from Hot Pink love the pop/rap sound. In my eyes there were only a few weak tracks, Highlights for me are Payday, Woman and Tonight from the deluxe version.

The Doja Cat's album "Planet Her" is sensual. This pop-rap album is perfect and lovely. Some songs are a perfect fit in this album, and some are mustn't include tracks in this album. But I like this album, I love every beat, and I appreciate the cover album.

Doja show her versatility in r&b, rap in a pop vibe that sounds totally comercial, but still really a masterpiece. The afro references, the way she connects herself with the younger generation... Everything matches! There's only a lack of rap verses, we know she's able to stun when rapping, and that's a missing point on the album. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This album is definitely a grower. Hot Pink took FOREVER to grow on me but when it did it hit like THAT. Hot Pink is viral hits back to back. The tracks on this album are just... there. As a full album, it's tough to listen to. It's best when listening to individual tracks or on shuffle. There's this strange producer tag on like five songs that gets super annoying after a while. The chorus on Love To Dream doesn't even sound like her. Is someone else singing on that? It's giving Ashanti on JLo's tracks teas. Many of the songs are generic and sound like 2013-2016 music. That's not really a bad thing though. The melodies and personality in the lyrics remind me of early 2010s pop girls. Another point to mention, the mixing on this album is much better than Hot Pink.

Favorite tracks: Woman, Tonight, You Right, Ain't S**t, I Don't Do Drugs, Need To Know
Least favorite tracks: Get Into It (Yuh), Payday, Been Like This, Alone, Love To Dream

Planet Her proves that Doja Cat is extremely talented. In each song, her delivery was on point, whether she's cruising through melodic hooks or spitting bars with a forceful energy that is sorely lacking missing in this era of "mumble rap." A genuine singer/rapper is hard to come by nowadays, and I don't count rappers who learned how to auto-tune their mediocre singing. Now, this album definitely uses auto-tune, but it's not distracting because Doja Cat clearly doesn't need it to sing well.

However, the lyrics keep this album from being truly great. A few songs midway through the album certainly helped, especially those featuring Ariana Grande and The Weeknd. "Alone" and "Kiss Me More" were also good, but the rest of the album is held back by lot of lazy, disinteresting songwriting. Like I mentioned earlier, Doja Cat is very talented, and her spot-on delivery leaves these songs listenable, but it doesn't eliminate the problem.

One thing that Planet Her can do is really take us to a diferent planet, both sonically and visually. Doja created an era! However, as far as the strenght of the collaborations on this albums, the solo ones seem to feel poor, often.

Unfortunately, Doja's music has that certain TikTok appeal and because of the contemporary sound, it's hard to differentiate from recent pop and R&B efforts. Doja's style is a bit too silly in places, or as she sings it herself in "Imagine": "Got imagination 'cause I'm childish".

    My favorites:
    "You Right"
    "Been Like This"
    "Woman"
    "Naked"

Doja Cat experiments with versatility and the tracks are enjoyable but, it could be developed in a better way.

It’s smart at points, silly at others, often musically unremarkable, occasionally pure pop gold and easily listenable without providing significant satisfaction for more than ten to fifteen minutes after the act of consumption.

Maybe not every song here is as fully-realized as her best material, and maybe there are a few too many slow-moving ballads – but this doesn’t lessen just how delightful Planet Her ends up as a whole. It’s the type of pop album there should be more of: both playful and psychedelic, rich in intelligent production, and filled with charismatic and chameleonic performances.
