Despite holding onto this grief, Wizkid puts that energy into more dancefloor fillers. Fun and experimental, while still harnessing an element of traditional afrobeats, the dance section of ‘Morayo’ builds on ‘More Life, Less Ego’’s high-energy yet effortless aura.

A work of maturity and quiet meaning, ‘Morayo’ stands alongside some of the defining moments in Wizkid’s work. Staying true to himself, this may be his most honest full length yet, driven forwards by a higher power.

"Piece of My Heart," features guest vocals from Brent Faiyaz and an interesting mid-song shift to a lusher sonic palette. The production, while similar to his earlier releases, leans ever more insistently into R&B with subtler Afrobeats touches.

The soft and cyclical nature of the album makes it more like a warm hug than a packed punch at all. When the sound of rainfall opens “Lose,” it crystalizes Morayo as the sort of chill-Afrobeats-to-vibe-to where Wizkid reigns.
