    A pretty solid album overall, this is where everything changed, and Linkin Park decided to slowly shift into the Pop genre as well, a very creative and brave decision.

    Even if the album haves behind some of the greatest LP albums (HT and Meteora), for me its the best LP album ever made, haves some of the hardest LP themes (No More Sorrow and Given Up), underrated bangers like In Between or Valentine's Day and one of the best LP songs for end it (TLTGYA), 10/10, a masterpiece with the best LP themes and great unused songs like No Roads Left or Across The Line

    This is definitely hard to rate. I think this and 'A Thousand Suns' were both LP albums where everybody had different opinions on, some acclaimed them, others didn't. There are some mean strings on here as well, such as songs like 'Given Up' with that long scream, 'Bleed It Out' with a new direction LP would go that would even be present 5 years later on 'Living Things', also i'm a fan ofThis is definitely hard to rate. I think this and 'A Thousand Suns' were both LP albums where everybody had different opinions on, some acclaimed them, others didn't. There are some mean strings on here as well, such as songs like 'Given Up' with that long scream, 'Bleed It Out' with a new direction LP would go that would even be present 5 years later on 'Living Things', also i'm a fan of the 'Shadow of the Day', especially the transition to 'What I've Done', which is also great. Sure it isn't everybody's everything, though i feel like they had fun producing it, so i don't really think it's bad, except for the few mediocre and boring parts like on 'Valentine's Day'.     'Minutes to Midnight' surely sounds different from other Linkin Park albums. It sometimes lacks of consistence and originality. Violence through shoutings is raw, unsynthesized and disorganized. The band tried to experience more soft and chill songs (like 'Shadow of the Day', 'In Pieces' and 'The Little Things Give You Away'). Some of them are welcome and kind of bring some more depth to'Minutes to Midnight' surely sounds different from other Linkin Park albums. It sometimes lacks of consistence and originality. Violence through shoutings is raw, unsynthesized and disorganized. The band tried to experience more soft and chill songs (like 'Shadow of the Day', 'In Pieces' and 'The Little Things Give You Away'). Some of them are welcome and kind of bring some more depth to the project and the group's overall repertoire but others just miss their point and become dull and shallow. However, no one can contest the fact that Linkin Park made a terrific work on this album: some tracks will remain legendary, like 'What I've Done', 'Bleed It Out' and 'Shadow of the Day' (even if I know everybody will not agree on that point). The band managed to modify their musical approach and artistic direction even if it meant to lose a considerable part of their fanbase.     One of my favorite albums of all time, every song in this album is at the very least good, not a single bad tune. Amazing album!

    Overall a decent album but it has its share of flaws. There are times when the album feels inconsistent and some of the songs are... corny, forgettable or both. The worst song of the album is Hands Held High for sure. Don't get me wrong, lyrically wise is not bad but the sounds and overall tone feels unispired and boring, and the fact that the song comes right after What I've Done, it'sOverall a decent album but it has its share of flaws. Then again, the album has its share of highlights, some which are even some of my favorite songs of LP's entire discography. Given Up is raw, exciting and sounds overall kickass, What I've Done is lyrically great and very climatic and fun sound wise, and In Pieces has a great guitar solo with some powerful instrumentals.     One of Linkin Park's best albums and one of their most underrated. Tracks like Given Up, What I've Done, In Pieces, Little Things Give You Away and Hands Held High remind us why Linkin Park is one of the greats!

    The album that got me into Linkin Park when I was around 10 years old. Favorites: Given Up, Leave Out All The Rest, The Little Things Give You Away, What I've Done. And "No Roads Left" from the Tour/Deluxe Edition. Overall an amazing album that I'll remember and love forever.

    the bands most intimate album, with touches of Metal Rock and Pop this is an album everyone can relate, some songs are hauntingly sad, the vast majority of the songs are good but most don't add up in a consistent listen, not their greatest but for sure, its no a miss.

    is good, but is not nu metal. Linkin Park lose thei way in the nu metal but still been a good album. Viva Given up and What ive done. the album has more good songs but...

    The singles from this album are pretty good, whille less amazing than their previous releases. Among the other tracks, some tracks are ok, but Hands Held High, In between are bad. I think they started to produce mediocre track right from this album.

    This album is a sleeper hit, as you compare it to Living Things and Recharged. By far this is a perfect Alt Rock Linkin Park ever made, they shift from Nu Metal to Alt Rock to Electronic Rock to Electro House and going back to Nu Metal/Alt Metal realm in Hunting Party. By far in retrospect this is a good album.

    It's simpler than their other works but I really like it. I love how there are calm songs like "The Little Things Give You Away", "In Between" and "Shadow Of The Day" which are really different than HT's and Meteora's songs. Not their best album but for me it is very meaningful.

    Okay I'm going to clear one thing up: anyone who thinks that this album has changed Linkin Park into a boy band either hates them for no reason or doesn't have a functioning brain. The problem with people is that they DON'T LIKE CHANGE. They think that Linkin Park is supposed to be an all-metal/punk rock band. Well, the band doesn't. They decided to take a slower approach, and I praiseOkay I'm going to clear one thing up: anyone who thinks that this album has changed Linkin Park into a boy band either hates them for no reason or doesn't have a functioning brain. The problem with people is that they DON'T LIKE CHANGE. They think that Linkin Park is supposed to be an all-metal/punk rock band. Well, the band doesn't. They decided to take a slower approach, and I praise them. Minutes to Midnight shows a different side of the band, one that's not all about blasting screams into your ears. I'm not saying that I hate their earlier music, because I think almost all of their music is good. But they thought, "Hey, let's slow things down a little." And hey, they still retained some of that old style that made them famous in No More Sorrow and Given Up, and added some more rap by the one and only Mike Shinoda

    1. Wake (8.5)- An instrumental song that foreshadows the album to come, with both slow music and good old fast-paced music in a perfect blend.

    2. Given Up (8)- This song makes the listener feel like this album is once again going to be filled with Linkin Park's usual metal sound. The chorus is strong and it includes a Chester Bennington trademark scream.

    3. Leave Out All the Rest (8.5)- The first hint at difference in this album. This song is slow and it shows the listener what their music has been lacking: the true vocals of Chester Bennington. (Side Note: This song was in the 2008 movie "Twilight")

    4. Bleed it Out (9.75)- This is Linkin Park at some of its finest. Mike Shinoda enters the album in impressive style, reminding the world that he is one of the top rappers of his generation. This song, with its aggressive tones, takes the lyrical style of High Voltage and combines it with the music style of Papercut (both from Hybrid Theory) Side Note: An 8-minute version of this song was used to close out their Milton Keynes concert (Road to Revolution album, released in late 2008).

    5. Shadow of the Day (9.25)- This song is similar to U2 and has that same mellow yet hard feel to it. Chester is 2/2 on vocals thus far

    6. What I've Done (10)- Easily the best track on this album. If there was ever a song on this track to combine the two styles of Linkin Park, I'm glad it's this song. Incredible vocals as well as guitar. This song is going to be one of the top Linkin Park tracks for the remainder of their career.

    7. Hands Held High (7.5)- It's back to slow for an okay track. Being my least favorite on the album, it's not that bad, but it sounds more of a PSA than a song. It literally starts with Mike saying, "Turn my mic up louder, I got to say something." Slow and having very little instrumental background, it's basically Mike talking about terrorism and stuff like that. The chorus has the exact same feel as the rest of the song, so I had initially had trouble distinguishing between the two. Also, the song has unnecessary and repetitive "amens" around the chorus.

    8. No More Sorrow (8.5)- If you're following the pattern (honestly, I don't like the pattern), then you should've realized that this would be another aggressive song. It has the layout of most of the earlier Linkin Park songs.

    9. Valentine's Day (7.75)- A faster (not by much, but still faster) version of My December, this song is repetitive and dull until the final minute.

    10. In Between (9)- An underrated track. It has Shinoda singing in the same style as Hands Held High (but this is a song) and after a minute or so Chester joins him and they harmonize for the rest of the song.

    11. In Pieces (9.5)- It may not be as good as What I've Done, but it still combines both of Linkin Park's styles to date. It starts off slow, but after the fist chorus it speeds up, and after the second chorus, listeners are rewarded with a rare treat: A Brad Delson guitar solo.

    12. The Little Things Give You Away (10)- The album closed with a bang. Like In Pieces, it starts off slow and gets faster, with a great guitar solo in the middle. This song shows the true potential that Linkin Park has performing slower music. A spectacular finish to a spectacular album. (Side Note 1: This song is about the devastating result of Hurricane Katrina, and the inspiration for the song came when the band visited New Orleans during the reconstruction process) (Side Note 2: Both the Milton Keynes (Road to Revolution album, see #4 Bleed it Out) and the Live in Shanghai, 2007 (Minutes to Midnight Live Around the World album) included different length intros of slow piano music provided by Mike Shinoda (Who else? The man does anything and everything for the band).

    Overall, although it doesn't compare to Meteora, this album is a great transition into A Thousand Suns, which is LP at its finest.    … Expand

    Não sei como a crítica dá uma nota dessas a um álbum maravilhoso como o Minutes To Midnight. Com certeza, esse é o melhor álbum da discografia impecável da banda, com letras muito bem escritas e instrumental maravilhosa. Com certeza uma bíblia do rock.

    A very different album from what came before in Hybrid Theory and Meteora. It's softer. The first half of the album is basically pop, while the second takes on a more melancholy tone. Only a small handful of the songs harken back to the more aggressive and rather rocking tone their previous albums had.     I personally didn't find any song particularly bad, but the slower sound the album possesses did make it harder for me to get into. I can definitely see myself enjoying the tracks more when I'm in a more emotional mood. Then maybe the lyrical themes will stick with me more. However a lot of people wanting the sound that made the band in the first place are going to view this as a very "emo" turn for the band. One that they are probably not going to appreciate.

    I personally think it's a solid album. Even if it is far from the best work they've done. It's an experiment that mostly succeeds. However it's one that has alienated fans from the band. If you have not yet experienced this album, but have some of the others from Linkin Park, it would be wise to expect something different. It's an album unlike any of the others they have done whether they came before or after this one. Whether or not that will cause this album to turn you away from the band I cannot say. It has done that for many. All I can say is that while I was not as impressed with this album as I have been with others from the band, it's one I did still mostly enjoy.

    Solid album. It is not as good as Hybrid Theory and Meteora but not a bad album. If you liked the other albums you might thing this is a change in style but after hearing the album a few times you will notice that it is still Linkin Park.

    I'm glad that Linkin Park's made the decision to change their sound and the fact that they made a solid rock album, but i felt that it lacked that little kick that was their in the albums before it. Some songs were really good while some were weak.

    1. Wake- This is the first track of this album.It is an instrumental piece and a really good one. It gives the listener a hint of the sound in this album.

    2.Given Up- This is the song that is known for Bennington's 18 second scream. I'm a huge fan of this song. It is really aggressive and has some heaviness of the previous albums.

    3.Leave Out All The Rest- Now, this is the first song that actually shows the change in the band's sound. It is soft, catchy and is meant for airplay. Chester's vocals are better than ever. 4/5

    4. Bleed It Out- This is the second single of this album and is the first song on this album that features rap in it. The rap verses are brilliant and the aggressive feel in this song is amazing. 4.5/5

    5. Shadow Of The Day- A U2ish song by Linkin Park. Nothing original about this song. The guitar riffs are good (although they're similar to U2's 'With Or Without You'). Chester's vocals are brilliant yet again. 4/5

    6. What I've Done - The lead single and one of my favourite songs from this album. Extremely catchy and I bet I'll never get bored of this song. 5/5

    7. Hands Held High - The second song in this album that has rap in it. A slightly slowish song and Mike talks about terrorism and stuff like that. I'm not a huge fan of this song and i feel that the 'amen' part at the end of the song wasn't required at all. 2.5/5

    8. No More Sorrow - Another aggressive song. The guitar breakdown in the middle of the song is slightly similar to that of Given Up. In short, it is a good song. 3.5/5

    9. Valentine's Day - Another weak song in this album. The first half of the song's boring even though the last 50 seconds or so make it up for it. A kind of a 'meh' song. 2.5/5

    10. In Between - The worst song on this album. Even though Mike's a good singer, the song's slow and it doesn't have that kick to make it a good song. This is the low point in all of Linkin Park's career up to date. 2/5

    11. In Pieces- A really amazing comeback song by the band. I love Brad's guitar solo at the end of the song. It is a bit surprising as the band is not known for guitar solos. One of the highlights of this album. 5/5

    12. The Little Things Give You Away- A brilliant finish to this album. It is 6 minutes long and is the first progressive rock song composed by the band. It starts out slow but has a really good guitar riff at the end of the song. I love the fact that they did something different on this album and this song proves it. An epic finish to 'Minutes To Midnight'.5/5

    However as compared to their previous albums and their later albums, this is one of Linkin Park's worst albums. Not that it is a bad album; it is a mediocre effort as compared to the band's other releases. I have a few reasons to justify this statement :

    1. After 'What I've Done' the album somewhat shows its mediocre side with songs such as 'In Between', 'Valentine's Day', although the next 2 songs make it up for it.
    2. I didn't like the order in which the songs were positioned. It was like one really aggressive song and then a really soft one. They could've instead placed all the aggressive songs first and then the soft ones or vice versa.

    Even though this album has its strengths and weaknesses, it is a stepping stone for the band's change in sound and for the band's next album 'A Thousand Suns', which is the best album of their career.    … Expand

    Minutes to Midnight is not perfect, but it fares well. Decent rock songs with some pretty energised riffs, and the occasional emotional downplay on the music gives the album a decent variation, and overall achieves a beautiful sound.

    Whilst there isn't much negative to say about it, I still feel there could have been more rock and metal aspects, but I can't really complain. This album    Minutes to Midnight is not perfect, but it fares well. Decent rock songs with some pretty energised riffs, and the occasional emotional downplay on the music gives the album a decent variation, and overall achieves a beautiful sound.

    Best album by Linkin Park. Many good songs, some of their best (Shadow Of The Day), less rap and rock sound. Unfortunately it is just an exception in a series of album that I don't like.

No, it is even an excellent album with many earwigs from the radio ("What I've done" or "Shadows of the Day") and rocky new-metal songs ("Bleed it out", "Given Up" or "No more sorrows").     Only good about this album is that it is different from HT and Meteora. Songs like WHAT I'VE DONE, NO MORE SORROW and GIVEN UP are really amazing but songs like IN BETWEEN and HANDS HELD HIGH really sucks.This album is not a masterpiece or amazing. I am a linkin park fan that's why I liked this album but I cannot love.     In my ranking of Linkin Park albums this is in a close 2nd behind Living Things. It shows a perfect & natural transition between the distorted nu-metal of their previous 2 albums and the more melodic, experimental and somewhat electronic style they would explore more of on A Thousand Suns. I admit that the overall quality fades a little toward the end of the album with Valentine's Day & InIn my ranking of Linkin Park albums this is in a close 2nd behind Living Things. It shows a perfect & natural transition between the distorted nu-metal of their previous 2 albums and the more melodic, experimental and somewhat electronic style they would explore more of on A Thousand Suns. I admit that the overall quality fades a little toward the end of the album with Valentine's Day & In Between but In Pieces & the epic & beautiful closer The Little Things Give You Away saves the end from being unsatisfactory. Another complaint I have is with Given Up; musically it's awesome but lyrically it's really cliche & almost sounds like a Linkin Park style parody without the comedy at some points. But other than that this is a fantastic listen, and I think it's a great album to get someone who wants something representative of everything Linkin Park has done in their first decade.… Expand

    Most of minutes to midnights singles was featured in Transformers, then one was featured in Twilight, I think that Linkin Parks albums are great, but the album exclusives are there best works, nevertheless, this album as a whole is very good.
