They just keep getting better and better! Waited awhile for this album but it did not disappoint. What I like about BTS and their music is that they keep on evolving. This songs on this album is different from their other songs but you can also hear the influences from their previous work. Mad respect to BTS. They constantly release quality music and are such hardworking and humble people.

This album represents the hardwork and dedication they have for their craft. No wonder they are the best artist in the world! They love what they do and despite being the world's biggest artists, they still know how to keep their feet on the ground. The humblest people in the world! So much respect and love for this 7 wonderful people.

Each track sounds like it was delicately carved out of pure heavenly material. Listening to the album puts one in a state of serenity yet also a positively chaotic mood of happiness. Truly a masterpiece. Words can never do it justice.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. BTS has made another comeback with Map Of The Soul: 7 and I think they have done a pretty fantastic job. This arrangement was different from prior (they’ve had solos and vocalist/rapper division, but this album included more sub-units). I appreciate how the members let each other shine considering that does not always happen in groups. Back to the songs themselves, 5/20 came from the earlier album Persona (Home did not make it which hurt my heart but I’ve always enjoyed Persona, especially Jamais Vu) so I just enjoyed them again. For the newer songs, I believed that the way BTS described the album was fitting. They mentioned this was showing their growth throughout their career and you could it fee like it with some songs being more old school BTS vs others giving new school BTS. On my initial listen I thought, “oh this sounds more Dark & Wild but this one is new era 7.” I liked them both (though I always find old school sounds being my favorite, still enjoying everything ). I thought the title track sounded great and loved their use of the drum line and choir in the back. It gave the song a powerful feel which goes with the lyrics. There wasn't as much singing in this particular title track (not including the aspect towards the end where Jungkook was doing more singing). There was definitely some, but more melodious chants. You could definitely see the powerful message they were trying to exude.
For the Rapper’s songs there was Interlude: Shadow which showed Suga’s ability. I enjoyed his lyrics with this one in the verses and and melodies in the chorus. Not to mention, the fun surprise at the end really screamed Suga. Ego was a ton of fun and had the usual J-Hope flair. He involves a lot of melodies with his rap and gave an overall energetic song. I can imagine fans having a celebration during it at the concert. Ugh, was a song with all of the rap members. It was hype and it definitely gave me old school BTS vibes. I enjoy the dynamic between the rap line as they bounce off of each other. The beat was great but not too much to the point where you focused on it more than the actual lyrics. They both commanded attention. Lastly there was Respect with RM and Suga and this song was in the form of discussion. It seemed like they were trying to compare Respect’s definition to the realities of how people show it. I love this song, and when BTS approach topics like this. It's sarcastic and very entertaining.
As for the vocalists, we got Filter, My Time, Inner Child, and Moon. Jimin's Filter was fun and more sensual. He's has always had a very charming tone. Mixing it with the playfulness of this sound (the Spanish guitar), they made something great. It was one of my favorites. My Time is Jungkook’s song and this was a R&B vibe (Side note: He incorporated a lot of English with this song). I think his vocals got to show a bit more w (not the entirety of his capabilities. Just more). His ad libs were amazing and they usually are. I think he did a great job. I enjoyed the production of this one. Inner Child was by vocalist V. With V, I’m more use to his soulful solo songs, but this was a sweet change. It made you feel like rushing towards something uncertain but beautiful (which is amazing because this was a song for his younger self). It made me feel as if I could gather with friends for good feelings and just be happy enjoying life. Lastly, we had Moon with vocalist Jin. We got another fun song that gave me old school vibes (not BTS old school, but retro pop... maybe?). It was playful in a way that’s different from Jimin’s. Less sensual, more surrounded by positive energy of someone loved. You could skip through the fields with your best friends to this song, go on a road trip, or anything really fun. It’s one of those songs that make me feel how a song should, which is happy. Also, the lyrics are sweet. Two other vocalist songs were Friends and 00:00. Friends was cute, showing the friendship between members singing. It was just really fun and playful song. 00:00 was very nice and they sang more on this one. The harmonization with the members was great for this song and I really enjoyed the build to the chorus. Lastly there's We Are Bulletproof (WAB), Louder than bombs (LTB), and Black Swan. LTB sounded as if they were drawing you in. It was very trance-inducing saying, “hear me.” Black Swan did well highlighting vocals/raps and the overall sound was amazing. I loved the beat and message. WAB was another song highlighting everyone. It’s a reminiscent sound and probably best shows that, “Look at how far we’ve made it”
Outside of this, BTS worked with others on 7. I wonder if this is BTS wanting to branch out further in their sound or what inspired them to work with the people they did. How’d the process go with the co- producers/writers . Also, they incorporated more effects and it seemed fitting in many aspects for the lyrics, but I do love a raw BTS

The tracks evoke the feelings of the members of BTS as of this time in a eerily/hauntingly beautiful way that showcases their wide musical range and diverse music styles ranging from songs with a delicate elegance and dose of intimacy while others are aggressively fun hip hop tracks that are sure that o make you want to move. As a whole, the strong but not particularly unruly “7” is less sure-footed than “Love Yourself: Tear,” the group’s last full-length, from 2018, and the first K-pop album to debut atop the Billboard album chart.

Taut and primal, “MOTS: 7” is a kind of self-referential homage. ... Each get solo turns to shine here, their collective work is what stands out.

Persona lacked the natural fluidity and chicness of their best music. Those problems aren’t exactly mitigated here, since most of those songs appear on this album too, but within this new context, they feel like a flashback before the saga continues. Many of the new songs are better about balancing Easter eggs for day-ones with new entry points for more casual listeners.
