The start of the ‘Lover’ era (marked by the music video for lead single ‘Track 16: ME!’) saw a renewed and revitalized version of “the old Taylor” – pastel color schemes, butterflies instead of snakes, and a stronger and more confident woman who’s no longer afraid to speak out her truth. ‘Lover’ continues the love stories (no pun intended) found on ‘reputation’, where Swift now outwardly expresses her love for her man (and his country and culture as well) who lives across the Atlantic (‘Track 8: London Boy’), who’s been by her side for three summers now (‘Track 2: Cruel Summer, ‘Track 3: Lover’). In comparison to the older albums in her catalog, there’s a marked growth, increased clarity, and more depth in her song writing, which is undeniably her greatest asset and among the best of today’s pop stars. But it’s not just her relationship with Joe that she discusses – Swift mentions how this album is a “love letter to love itself”. From discussing the topic of parental love and heartbreak over a parent’s experience with cancer (‘Track 12: Soon You’ll Get Better’), to calling out the lack of love and support Swift, and all the women out there, receive because of their gender (‘Track 4: The Man’), to even criticizing all that has been engendered by Trump’s America, albeit via a metaphor of a high school (‘Track 7: Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince’), Swift has once again proven why she is The Pop Queen and is a force to be reckoned with. Simply put, ‘Lover’ is an upgraded version of ‘Red’ in terms of its themes, ‘Speak Now’ in terms of its songwriting, and ‘1989’ in terms of its production. ‘Lover’ is one of Swift’s greatest decisions in her 13-year career.… Expand

    Lover is a beautiful record. It’s makes those who are in love fall harder and deeper and those who lone for it wish more hopefully and romantically. Every track is a journey through loving and all its particular components. Just amazing, just awesome.

    Lover is such an experimental album. Once again Ms.Swift prove us her power, her mind, and her life. Although her capacity of selling out stadium tours, she still an underrated artists. She is an artists, not just a singer. The album sticks to his concept about true love.

    Lyrically great, production wise, Taylor serves her vocals with pure emotions. The Lover really consists songs about any kind of love... Diverse kind of love! Maybe her best one yet

    Lover may be Taylor Swift's best album since 2010's Speak Now. It doesn't quite match the highs of that album, but certainly doesn't match the lows either. Throughout the album, the listener gets the sense that... this is Taylor Swift in her purest, most brutally honest form especially in songs such as Soon You'll Get Better, which is the most heartbreaking song I've listened to all year.

    This is one of her best albums. It is really mellow and chill and light. If you were ever in LOVE you will understand this album and the vibe she went for. It's such an awesome album. Good job, literally new style for her, love how she keeps changing and evolving. Good Job Tay!

    The production was extremely high quality, the lyrics being some of the best she's ever written. Lover is the lovechild of 1989 and Speak Now and definitely lives up to her parents' excellence.
