Jan 24, 2025This is blazing, and even now nobody does it better. [Feb 2025, p.104]

Jan 24, 2025‘Live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2023’ might not appeal to many non-fans of this shirtless icon, but what it does provide is proof that you can A) Still sound ridiculously vital and feral in your 70s and B) that one James Newell Osterberg Jr. aka Iggy Pop was bringing his a-game right till the end. Look no further if you’re looking for a slab of good old-fashioned, authority-hating, boredom-detesting noise to start your 2025.

MojoJan 24, 2025As well as less oft-aired selections from Stoogean days (I'm Sick Of You, a ferocious Death Trip), the Bowie era (Mass Production) and later solo outings (The Endless Sea, off '79's New Values), there's a trumpet-led singalong for The Passenger, and Loose rendered with a near-big band swing - weird but actually rather wonderful. Jan 30, 2025Iggy Pop has released a few live albums with varying degrees of success, yet Live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2023 proves (somewhat surprisingly) that the rock and roll legend is still firing on all cylinders while crafting sonically dense pastures to rant over.

Classic Rock MagazineFeb 4, 2025Iggy is in fine voice throughout, raising a middle finger to both age and doubters. [Mar 2025, p.76]
-
UncutJan 24, 2025Only an underpowered "Nightclubbing", slathered in hair-metal guitar-rock slammers dilute an otherwise exhilarating night of impressively gutsy jazz-metal bruisers. [Feb 2025, p.39]

Feb 28, 2025Not groundbreaking, but it sounds great. And yet, these time-tested, still electrifying punk rock torch songs have been neutered somewhat here. The performances are professional, perfectly calibrated, even virtuosic.
