    A complete twist to the concept of visual album. Beyoncé returns to overcome herself again with a super wide amount of genres all in a single album, poetry included. Topics such as black feminism, infidelity or loneliness are talked about here, and it perfectly reflects the actual situation of a black woman in America.

    We usually marvel about the exploration of genres within an artists discography, however in ‘Lemonade’ alone, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter has explored at least 5 Genres. Rock (Don’t Hurt Yourself), Hip Hop (Freedom), R&B (6 inch), Pop (Sorry) and Country (Daddy Lessons).... Give this woman the respect and accolades she truly deserves.     The Album naturally transitions within the emotions felt by the suspecting wife of a unfaithful husband, and therefore the true value of the album could only be interpreted through listening to the song in the order Beyoncé intended.

    ‘Pray You Catch Me’, the first single of the album is a slow, vocally driven R&B track which begins with the disinterested and unbothered toned “ohs”, as we are aware that Beyoncé is not certain her husband is cheating, the monotony of the introduction of her first song could metaphorically represent the calm before the storm, the calm being her ignorance and the storm being the rage, hatred and disappointment she feels (which is expressed through the other tracks).

    ‘Hold up’ which is the second song of ‘Lemonade’ starts off as more upbeat, fast and pop-infused than its predecessor ‘Pray You Catch Me’. The album transitions from feelings of uncertainty and ignorance towards self-reflection and disappointing. She sings the disappointing and heart wrenching line “hold up, they don’t love you like I love you”, and hip hop “had the baddest woman in the game all in your shee-ee-eets”. The track is conveyed as an introduction to the passionately negative emotions the wife feels towards her unfaithful husband.    … Expand

    I have to say I was surprised to hear an album this good from a mainstream artist, a pop icon and, yes, a legend. Lemonade is an excruciatingly raw album and thanks to its number of tracks, it has no fillers, a smart move on her part. I don't think she'll ever be topping the polished masterpiece that this record represents but let's hope she comes close.
