Her lyrics have hit their peak in this album, giving us even more memorable lines and tragic choruses to listen to. The contrast of the slow and silky Honeymoon to the synthetic and fast High by the Beach provides an interesting contrast. One minute one could be absorbing drawn out and soulful sounds, and trap-inspired, low words spat out in a quiet anger. Salvatore's Italian sound and Freak's "muddy trap" music are the two standouts of an overall flawless album. Expand

...If only her producers didn't have such a raging hard-on for the reverb knob. I get it's her sound and all but it wears thin very quickly and makes listening to the entire album difficult.

Best Songs: Honeymoon, Salvatore, 24 (this is as close to a Bond tune as we've ever gotten from her)

Worst Song: High By The Beach

Lazy, lazy, lazy. I feel like Lana Del Rey has an advantage over many artists: the fact that she has a wonderful voices which she seemingly refuses to use. I really love the baselines in many songs, the lyrics are enticing however (as usual) she doesn't give any outstanding vocal performances. I really think she can!

Entertainment Weekly called it "stubbornly retro" in a positive light. Yes, it is stubbornly retro. ALL OF HER ALBUMS HAVE BEEN. I'm tired of the whole "bad girl born in the wrong generation" influence that she force feeds every album. Not even Dan Auerbach could make her interesting. This record is a reiteration of all of the points she's already made and I'm really getting bored of hearing it.

Del Rey returns with the same transcendent voice however Honeymoon does not justify her previous two LPs in her repertoire. Honeymoon remains Lana Del Rey's weakest album to date.

My problem is that I can't stand her voice, it's too sloppy and dark. As for the album, there are some decent songs like Terrence Loves You, Religion and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (which, by the way, it's a cover of the Nina Simone classic). Overrated, pretentious and artsy.

This album is the culmination of all her past works and sounds. It has elements from "Ultraviolence", "Born To Die", "Paradise" and "AKA". A solid effort, where the tracks flow nicely one into the other.

Lana has really come into her own with this album. Fusing pop styles with blues and jazz gives way to a fully realized idea of a modern woman trapped behind archaic ideas of romance.

Let me first start by saying that Lana is my favourite artist so, i was a little worried that this album will underwhelm me. I was very wrong, the album was great, it was coherent and every song worked on its own and as a part of the whole album. My favourites are Terrence Loves You, High By The Beach, Honeymoon, Salvatore and The Blackest Day. Well, actually every song is amazing.

Again Del Rey creates a beautifully retro album, and though its pretty and soft, I feel a disconnect. This is probably the first album in Del Rey's career without a clear concept. The singles are the best tracks and deserve to be on repeat. Download: High by the Beach, Music to Watch Boys By, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.

Though lyrics might seem a little one dimensional and undeveloped, their simplicity opens out with the slow and dark atmospheres that surround them. Lana kicks repetetivity in the head as well, finally working to resolve these problems that revolved around last years stripped down, bleak Ultraviolence.
The darkness remains, some might argue she hasn't moved immensely far, but this is Lana

Much like "Video Games," "Honeymoon" is orchestral and cinematic, slowly rising to the song's conclusion before gently coming back down. Still, "Honeymoon" is markedly different. The crawl seems even slower and lethargic; everything is drawn out to the most extreme degree. It fits as an opener because the rest of the album reflects what this song brings to the table. Honeymoon is a sparse and empty collection of the most assured songs in Lana's discography yet. It moves slower than a glacier, clocks in at over an hour, and the compositions are often barren. By combining all the styles of her previous work into one album, Honeymoon shows that Lana Del Rey has evolved from the melodramatic ballads of Born to Die to create her most focused and well-produced album to date. "High by the Beach" and "Freak" are Del Rey's catchiest songs yet while "Salvatore" and "Honeymoon" are more subdued tracks that contain a lot of emotion.

Lana had got into 70’s to make this album, getting elements in music and style to put on it. The record is subtle and emotional deep in all the tracks and the lyrics connects perfectly to the melodies, in a sexy and romantic way. Sometimes it can be somewhat sad, mainly the last songs, because of the slow rhythm, although it is just like “Ultraviolence”: deep in a dark way.
The singers are always trying to reinvent their music style, but a few of them can do it well like Lana and “Honeymoon” just confirm that she can put new stuff on her music and it is still good, so that’s why she is one of the most important singers in alternative music.

Terrence Loves You and the Blackest Day are two of the most outstanding cuts on this album, they're both very emotional and the singing style is slightly different than we're used to from Lana. Other good tracks are Salvatore, with the genius 'soft ice cream' lyric, Art Deco, which feels like a semi diss track with a perfect dull trap hiphop beat, and 24. 24 is literally a lost James Bond soundtrack. Lana has many of them but I personally think this is the most James Bond-ish of them all.

Weaker moments are the irritating verses on Freak. Freak is such a weird song. It has some really good moments (like the beat and lyrics in the chorus) but some really awful ones too. It's a bit of everything I guess. The forever known (as in, known by title + highly anticipated track by fans) Music To Watch Boys To isn't really what I expected it to be. I was ready for some Off To The Races/ West Coast 2.0 track but it's honestly just a bit boring.

My least favorite tracks on this record are Religion and Swan Song, they just don't stand out enough. I've been listening to this album for 2 months and I still can't really remember them.

Honeymoon; a very solid and nice Lana del Rey album, but not as good as her previous outcomes.

Del Rey is a remarkably talented artist that has received a lot of negative press due to her -air quote- strange personality and comments made by her. Do not let this deter you from enjoying her music. Honeymoon is perhaps her most mature and least autobiographical album yet, drawing inspiration from the jazz greats, film and noir, Trap style beats present of lead single 'High by The Beach", and her trademark love of icons- such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and David Bowie. Honeymoon is cinematic, dark, and often downtempo. One factor of the album that stops it from being awarded a perfect 10 would be that some of the slower songs can feel monotonous to 'outsider' listeners or people who do not typically enjoy this style of music. The inclusion of the track "High by The Beach" , a decent song its own right though not her strongest, seems to have been included on the album as a way of creating a radio playable song for the album as a form of promotion. TRUE!

Naturally progressing from song to song is key in making a record sound cohesive, and the structure of Honeymoon makes it an impressively consistent record. The ends of the record have the most sparse songs on them, with the record ending on the hypnotizing cover of Nina Simone's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," and throughout the middle of the record you'll find the more beat driven songs that offer a little more in the way of intensity. It's on "Blackest Day," possibly the strongest song on the record, where the intensity boils over into the album's most dramatic song, preparing you for the slow come down of the album's final three tracks. Again, it's impressive how an album with such a slow pulse can keep you so enamored for an hour plus and much of that can be chalked up to the impeccable sequencing.

For this record, Lana Del Rey went all out with her ambition, bringing her vision to life in a way that only she could. She's making music that only she could make, that possess a unique sound no one else is bringing to the table right now. Many people may have written her off years and years ago, but those of us who have stuck with her because of the potential we saw on tracks like "Video Games" are seeing the pay offs of her growth. It's been an exciting ride thus far and with Honeymoon, things are only getting more exciting as Lana continues to push her art to its limits.

'Honeymoon' doesn't feel like an instant classic as 'Ultraviolence'; however, it's Lana Del Rey at her most. The highlights: 'Honeymoon', 'Terrence Loves You' and 'God Knows I've Tried'. The lowlight: 'Religion'.

Truly amazing. Simply Lana del Rey. Love all the melodies and the lyrics are so beautiful. I wish she could make music forever. Really don´t understand how there are people who see Lana as a bad influence to the teenagers. Music is this, you can describe love as a fairy tale or how it really is. That´s what Lana do. Love her forever.

Honeymoon is not Lana's best album. It's nothing like the best one, Ultraviolence but it's good. High By The Beach is one of her worse tracks and the album is quite messy, but tracks like Music To Watch Boys To, The Blackest Day and Freak are amazing. Lana Del Rey has proven herself as a stand alone artist of this decade. With her first 3 albums (well 2 but Paradise is long enough to be a LP) giving a set-stoned standard for her as an artist. With these reacuring and sometimes annoyingly redundant lyrics about her falling for a bad guy and be a fool for it. But with this new record Honeymoon she still manages to keep those themes alive while smoothly covering them with new ones. Although this may seem condescending but truthful she takes that theme of being a fool and falling for the bad guy and put's quiet a unique spin on it. A very stand-out track is "Religion." Telling us as an audience that this man is her "religion" and she relies on him was new and nice, kinda refreshing. Other reacuring stuff happening that takes a more unique turn is the instrumentation. There is still that movie like feel to it but added with a bit of jazz and some drum machines. Yes, she has had drum machines on her other records but it's (once again) new and refreshing.

Take a listen to it. It is defiantly a good and enjoyable record.
